Spaghetti and spam is a go to easy quick meal in this house. Also one of the only things I make that my “eats like a 5 year old” MIL will eat.

    My dad loved Spam.

For Xmas I bought kinda a gag gift, I bought a 12 pack of 12 different kinds of spam, along with a 13th, Portuguese seasoning, along with a Spam slicer and a little can of Spam spread.

An absolute absurd gift but it would have gotten a laugh.

He died a week before Xmas eve, so now I have it all, wrapped, left over. It all came from Hormel.com, I’m not sure if it can be returned, but I would rather just give it to someone who would actually enjoy it.

But who the hell actually likes Spam? (Besides him . )

I’d keep it and crack a can open once in a while to remind you of your dad.

Of course I love it so that’s what would work for me. If you can’t stand it, maybe regift it next year in your dads honor? Not like it’ll go bad.

Opens can, sees the layer of multicolored jelly, fights the urge to gag and quickly throws in trash. I'm told it has the shelf life of nuke waste.

I remember spam in school lunches, I think Eisenhower was president. It wasn't my favorite, but it weren't the worst either.

Funny this comes up. The missus & I recently bought a can thinking of the savory treat from our childhoods. Big swing & miss! Tasted nothing like either of us remembered. Admittedly, neither of us had had it in years - longer than either could remember.

Terribly sorry to hear of your dad's passing.

I wish the Chorizo one was in stores somewhere. That sounds like something up my alley.

I'm not a big Spam fan so but I'll occasionally have it every so often. My wife absolutely loves it though, but the flavored varieties would be lost on her.

I havent had it in forever, but I always liked it.

fry two slices, toast white bread with a little mayo and cheese and its like a salty hot ham and cheese sandwich.

I should have read the whole thread before posting. Truly sorry for your loss. I'm betting your dad would have had a good laugh at the gift.

Sorry to hear about your dad. That's a tough one that close to the holidays. My best friend just lost his father about the same time, been a tough one.

Spaghetti sauce cuts the salt, makes it more palatable. Tomatoes are good for offsetting something overly salty.

Slice is 1/2" thick, fry it up till it's crispy on both sides, then toss some mozzerella cheese on each slice. Serve with spaghetti and tomato sauce. Bingo bango.

So is there an official NES SPAM Day? SPAM cooking contest?

Assuming you can still buy it at most grocery stores?

Most grocery stores have the regular, I was pretty excited to find 13 other varieties that I think are mostly a available in Hawaii.

They also have Pumpkin Spice Limited Edition Spam that is out of production and selling for $25 a can on amazon when its typically 2 or 3 bucks. Glad I didn’t pull the trigger on that..
