The lack of reasoning and logic displayed by the republican party is pretty amazing.

The fact that there are, ostensibly, some pretty smart people in my party is what does my head in. Because they still come up with plans like these!

Here is a comprehensive list of Republican-led tax cuts that have paid for themselves:

Which concept would be considered better / worse, that they are simply some of the worst liars EVER or that they are TRULY this stoooopid:

That's rich! Republicans suddenly believe that one percenters are barely struggling to be in the middle class, party officials revealed.

On Thursday, House Republicans issued a fact sheet about their new tax cut plan that referred to Americans earning $450,000 a year as “low- and middle-income” — even though that income level would put those taxpayers in the top 0.5 percent of all individual Americans.

The median household income in the United States is $59,039, after all.

The GOP made the announcement as part of the rollout of the tax cut plan, saying they would cut tax rates from 39.6 percent to 35 percent for those $450,000-earning middle class members — but the announcement was quickly overshadowed by the Republicans' bizarre understanding of wealth.

"Did somebody make a mistake?" laughed AFL-CIO Policy Director Damon Silvers when told of the income classifications by the GOP. "[Republicans] think that the income level of the top one percent is lower- and middle-class. This is a world where if you make less than $500,000, you don't exist."

There is no formal definition of the American middle class, but the Tax Policy Center puts its “middle quintile” between $48,300 and $85,600 a year.
So based on the republican figures and assumptions of wealth that would mean $100,000 per year would indicate you are living in poverty

Taxes will go UP, on average, for households earning between $75k and $200k.

If that isn't the middle class, what is exactly?

And beyond that, president too-stupid-to-understand is pressing to drop the highest tax bracket significantly, even after pushing to eliminate the estate tax.

Can anyone explain to me with a straight face how he isn't just looking out for his own personal wealth, and the wealth of all the rich white guys in his cabinet/staff?

That's not considered 'middle class' by most economists, the top line for middle class is somewhere around $75k to $100k depending on who you ask. It's been very amusing listening to the news for the last couple of weeks as I find out that I'm apparently super rich and should be ashamed of my wealth inequality just 'cause I can afford canned chicken to occasionally enhance my ramen.

What a loser. SAD. I not only add canned chicken, I add onion and carrots to my ramen #winningatramen

My town's average household income is $20k.

You sure that's average, not per-capita? Edit: Apparently per-capita is also called 'average income'. But it includes children over 15 and retirees. Not totally representative if you want to look at paychecks.

Poor lifestyle choices. Look at how much the average American has saved, for retirement or otherwise. It's pretty sad.

Just be happy that those of us who live within our means and save money for the future will likely have to pay even more than we do now to help these fuckheads. Maybe they have it right after all?

You are correct, it was per capita. $18,297. Household median is $44k. Guess our town officials need to learn the differences before they refer to per-capita as household median in town meetings......

So for all you mouth breathers that voted for him "because he's a good business man and he'll fix the budget", how's that humble pie taste?

I don't think any of the bizarre/semi-illegal/treasonous actions or unfulfilled campaign promises have had any negative effect on his supports, I'm baffled by what reason they could have for the continued blind support , especially if they make or have a net worth under $500,000. I mean even if you supported him simply based on staunch republican points the budget increase and communist love fest should make them furious, but no dice.

This reminds me of the argument -- often voiced by conservatives -- that so many Americans pay income tax. Well, that's because they earn jack shit.

The median wage for non-hispanic whites is $26,000 and change. It's pretty hard to save for retirement when most of your investment portfolio is tied up in food and shelter...

Technically speaking, the tax plan will increase the deficit, which will in turn increase the debt.
