When you got to the split in the trail about 10-15 seconds into the video, I thought the center trail was a tree and it was an Left or Right option only. When the kid went straight I was like "DUDE!!! LOOK OUT!!!"

Yeah, there's a lot of options as it has grown!

Current lap record is just under 1 minute

What a great thing to have at home! Reminds me how much I miss ripping the Summerhaven loop in North Augusta. Little guy looks like he’s having a blast!

We have a ton of fun banging out laps. He has a Husky TC50 coming in the spring.

That summerhaven loop still open? I'm like 20 min form there

Thanks!!!! Much of the gear was @Typeone 's kids

We have plenty of room to grow (40 acres), it is just all woods so slow going dropping trees and pulling rocks....

Its had to tell from the vid, but the step up jump is pretty fun and the step down is quite steep (its ledge)

Yeah, I can tell from the vids. Makes it a lot more dynamic for sure.

He is 6, started on a KDX50 at 3, has been borrowing a CRF50 the back half of this year, did our first hare scramble together this summer!

He is an animal, It's so fun to watch him progress.

I really want to start making the jumps bigger, but the main focus now has been pulling stumps and rocks and dropping trees.

The dirt out there is clumpy forest floor stuff that you cant really shape or back drag, it just moves in sheets.

We have been dealing with the same stuff with the MTB trails we have been building. It took a long time but a combination of using rogue hoes to peel it up as well as small rototillers did the trick. Not easy work at all.

    Man I got ideas!

Can always have some obstacles like logs on enduro cross tracks

Don’t make big jumps after long straights...do it after turns so people don’t overshoot

Good advice. We lapped for 3 hours today! I need to buy more good dirt for the jumps. The back step up jump I'm gonna try to make a double.

Logs could be fun but it needs to be rideable by my boy on the 50.

There are enough angled roots that it's all pretty tricky.

Not sure, haven’t been in a few years since we moved west. If so, it’s got a huge variety of terrain that would be great training for your young rider. Great, fast rip on big bikes too!

A bit of trail cutting advice….learn from a few of my mistakes. Don’t add corners, there will be plenty. Cut it wider than you think, the line that develops is usually different than the one you see when you’re cutting. Loops! Interconnecting loops. It allows you to ride the same few miles of trails but have the feel of riding a much larger area.

If you’re maintaining it yourself, even 3 miles is A LOT to keep up with. Recommend getting a nice machete like this Tramontina Machete. Super awesome for limbing up to 2”, Brazilian made, they know a few things about cutting a path through the woods. I do about 90% of my trail cutting and maintenance with this.

awesome !!! man, course is looking fantastic, my dudes would love to have space like that. our little trail is way too small for them now but still ridable ... i noticed the campsite and fire in middle, so rad.

sweet on the TC50, i have no clue what i'm going to do next season but the 50/110 will prob need upgrades already. i'd like to go back to 2T or electric. the 4T trail bikes are just so dumpy.

is he ready for any more gear, i've got a stack building

I need more land. I keep telling my wife this and I'm not sure she understands.

Re: 1 lap around the woods course I have been working on at home!

I've slowly been working on a small hiking/dual sport course on my own land (6 acres) over the past 2 years. It's interesting when you think you've cut a trail wide enough then decide to go down it on a dual sport how narrow it suddenly feels. And steepness is something I don't consider on foot, but which is pretty significant on the bike.

I also realized real quick I need a tractor to make any significant progress. Which is why it's still not done yet.

I have one of these walk behind string trimmers Which does a fantastic job. It's a lot cheaper than a tractor.

LOL what I need a tractor for is not mowing brush, it'd be for dragging trees around, pulling stumps, running a chipper and dumping chips. My property is like 75% old growth. A chainsaw is mandatory to make any progress on these trails.

how many acres would you say it is?

I've been window shopping for plots and have seen some from 0.4 to 7 acres within a 13 min drive from work/home...a 1 minute practice track w' connecting loops and those elevation changes would be just enough.
