    1973 CR250

I just picked up 73 CR, i picked it up in a couple boxes for a client who wants me to get it to run/ride and talk about a restore later this winter. This thing is cool as hell, bare aluminum tank with green sides, forks that look like they are right of a 250cc street bike. I am told this is the first year of the CR, cool to me because i have owned CRs all my life. so to work on the first version is a trip.

Any one ever have one of these? i wonder what it was like to actually race this think on an MX track! I will post some pics as i assemble.

start searching for a vintage honda site online. some oem stuff is going to be hard to find. take a lot of pics, rebuild threads are cool.

sweet! i love vintage MX bikes, looking forward to the build. when i was out a Unadilla this year they had a pretty decent showing of vintage iron. didn't take any closeups of the early '70s Hondas (too bad, i think a '73 was there) but i have a pic of a sweet '77 RC500 hand built rep. i wanted to hear and see it go sooo bad.

earliest CR i owned was an '80 Elsinore CR80R. stupid loud, tons of fun, rock solid. i beat the shit out of that thing and barely did maintenance. always fired and ran perfect.

I remember these from Pie Hill in Methuen when was a kid, would be a nice conversation piece in garage

checkout the movie "on any sunday" (it's on hulu) and you'll see 70's racers having two tons of fun running bikes like those on a dirt track

    but otherwise, I had a '72 XL250 and a 1979 KD125

    vintage dirt bikes FTW!
