Went out to Hodges Dam in Oxford yesterday (Sunday) with Biggity and his brother Tim. We were the first ones there at 7 am. It was cold, very cold, about 31 degrees cold. The trails were in good shape but man was I rusty. After about an hour it warmed up a little bit and I started to loosen up. I'm slow, painfully slow at times but I didn't have any get offs, only a couple of pucker moments and had a blast. I only stalled it once, when Mike got stuck on a log right in front of me and covered me in dirt spinning the tire trying to get over it!
The bike (CRF230) was awesome. It takes a while to get warmed up but once it does it ran great. After a couple hours we called it quits and headed back to the parking lot by 9:30ish. It was packed, there had to be easily 2 dozen cars in the lot and lining the road. I was very glad to be off the trails at that point.
All said and done it was a great ride. Seeing the parking lot when I left I really never want to ride there past 10 am on a weekend. Just too busy..
If you can't Race it or take it to bed, it's not worth having..
Yeah, good times.
The little 150 goes pretty well until I ask too much of the cheapo suspension and it reminds me that it is only a 150f.
The amount of people there when we left was crazy. Never seen so many people there. Glad I get up early on the weekends
Crowded trails like that can really be a pain. With a mix of bikes and skill levels, I can see how easy it'd be for everyone to get a little frustrated.
Glad you cats are getting out there and poking around in the woods. It's one of my favorite pastimes, for sure.

Close your eyes, look deep in your soul, step outside yourself and let your mind go.
bummed i couldnt join you guys. next time. sounds like a great day, temps were prob choice by 8AM.
Hodges reopened 4/20 so this weekend was bound to be packed. even when it's pretty full, i'm always surprised that you dont really run into many bikes if you stretch out the loop more. there's some new(er) stuff way out back that helps. the upper area is harder so that's usually pretty open as well.
good to hear Tim B is back at it!

fixed my top end power issue... the PVs weren't fully opening anymore. odd. wonder if the linkage spring got a little fatigued (?) it only needed a slight adjustment to get them functioning properly again.
bought a new coil anyway, just in case.
i'll let you guys know when i can jam down to Hodges, anxious for a full test run. felt great around the yard!

I had a small window of time open, but now it is closed. How do people with kids have a life? lol
i've been slipping Miracle Grow in Ben's boob juice. should be able to ride with me by the fall.

Paul, i'm scrambling to figure out when i can ride. i dont think i could make it out your way for this afternoon but when were you planning to ride?
Beta 200RR
OK. i doubt i can skip my afternoon meetings but i'll see how the morning goes...
Beta 200RR
bah, not going to be done with work in time to head out your way, Paul. sorry man.
looking like i'll be at Hodges tomorrow, Sat 4/27. Tim, if you can make it let me know.

never made it. had a power valve issue that i thought was my coil. all set after some adjustment. they weren't opening all the way. linkage spring must be getting a little fatigued or slipped.
new carb feels great so far. think it's slightly lean, idle hang, so a quick 1/4 turn adjustment and i should be spot on.
need a full ride to see how it responds.
