2 day dualsport 11/4-11/5

Who wants in?
Pachaug State Forest in eastern Ct
Camping out in the Mt Misery camp ground (it's free) Friday night and Saturday nights. There's running water, bathrooms, firepits, etc.
Mt Misery camping area is in the Chapman Area of Pachaug

There's at least 50 miles of designated trails in the forest to keep us busy. This isn't a race pace place so no hero's please

Your bike MUST be street registered and insured to ride here. The loop is somewhat big bike friendly so even if you have a big dualsport or adventure bike, you'll probably be OK. At least we will be there to help you out and take some good pictures
Very little mud, a few "small" rock gardens, some nice single track and a good mix of fire/public dirt roads

I'll get more details up as the time gets closer

Do they check to see if you have the insurance card?

NH doesn't require insurance on dirtbikes.
Is there room for my RV at this campgrund? I am in if I don't need to actually have insurance.

Honestly, I've never been checked so I'm not sure what they check for. This time of year with hunting season in full swing, I'm sure the chances are greater of having a run in with a EPO but I think you'll be fine if you have what your state requires.

The campground is 1st come first serve but I'm sure this time of year it will not fill up. There is plenty of room for your RV on the sites as they are pretty big. I know Bob is bringing his toy hauler/camper as well, I think if he gets a big site, we can even fit your RV in the same site

Ok i am in. I need to find someone else that is LEGAL to go with from NH so the RV ride will be fuel/cost effective.

I'm all switched over from track style and ready to go.

Meet us at the Mt Misery camping area, what's a good start time? 9:30?

Take the main entrance to the forest off Rt 49, the road is Headquarters Rd. Follow that to the Y and bear to the left where it turns to dirt. There is that big field on the left about 100 yards after the Y in the road, Mt Misery camping area is behind that field

Sean, looks like it's going to be a chilly start...but the days are shorter so lets make the ride start time 9:30am

You got the first 2 rights right but the second 2 rights wrong
You can park on the edge of the field if you want, or you can just fine our site and park there. I'm sure we'll be easy to find

Lets eat at the pizza place again, it was pretty good last time It will be a bit later of a lunch though as we will be starting out at the southern end of the forest this time, riding north, then back south.
Dress warm, at least until we get into the rocks.....errr woods

Wow , what a great day. I'm a little sore already. Managed a bit over 40 miles. Thanks to everyone that took a turn at the lead. A bit chilly on the short couple of paved sections but a great day overall.
I'll post up the pics probably tomorow, I dropped the cameras off on the way home to get put onto disk. I think I have pics of everybody on the ground at least once, including that stranger that lead us around after lunch

The RL Is loaded, and I finally found the key for the DRZ. Again. Hopefully you put a hurting on those campers, so they'll take it easy today. Shit, I forgot to pack jumper cables.
