    2002 CR 250 value

What is the range value wise on a 2002 CR250? I have a guy that wants to trade me one for an engine I have.

    Re: 2002 CR 250 value

Depends on the shape its in and what it has. Considering Mark is selling his 08 YZF450 for 3000 Id say the 250 is around 1500 private sale.

I was gonna say 17-1800. Depends on whether it had synthetic or conventional oil, or Dunlop or michelin, or any other silliness.

    2 stroke ( which is what a CR250 is ) or 4 stroke CRF 250
Then you get into a whole different can of worms

He said it has a fresh wiseco top end, so I am assuming it's the CR smoker.

I wouldn't value it more than a grand. Two-smokes are dirt cheap to come by these days.

private sale, it would probably be seen between $1,200-$1,800...CR's hold their value well, but even a Honda can't be sold for two G's in this economy

but considering that he's trading you for it, I'd let him value it ~$1,000-1,200 range...if he wants two grand for it, tell him to go through the hassle of craigslist, come back to you with $1,200 and he can pocket the extra $800

    Re: 2002 CR 250 value

    I tried to move my 02 yz250 for 1500 a couple months ago...no bites.

It runs perfectly, looks great, all stock.

Take it for what its worth, but I decided to keep it, its worth more than $1500 to me.

ya probably around 1500, but like above IF you can get that. That said, heavily dependent on the condition

I actually misspoke, it's a 2003 if that makes a difference. He sent me his number so I gotta give him a call. And request pics and hours. Maybe a vid of it running. Any thing else I should ask about?

just really visual inspection, other than having compression/starting ok. Check freeplay in rear end (that means linkage/swing arm bearings are fucked), check shock and fork seals see if they are weaping/leaking. Check chain/sprockets if they are rusty and shit then the dude probably doesn't know how to maintain anything. Take the seat off and check the air filter, if it is dirty as fuck then he probably never changes it enough either.
There aren't many differences with 02/03 cr250 but they were kind of labled as Hondas lame era of engines, not that that matters for normal riding as any 250 that is running good is fun.

    Re: 2002 CR 250 value

Well, the issue is that he's in PA so I'm gonna have to get creative with having him take pics of the stuff I need. The only reason I'm thinking about it is because it's the best offer I've gotten for something I don't need and I end up with something I would like to have, albeit a 2 smoke.

How many hours on the top end? How many rings/pistons has it gone through?

No sounds normal, but once you get it turn the Idle down and Kill it.......and Dirty's don't really give you a knock pre-tick they just go Boom.

    no shit, wow

bike looks to be in good shape, real clean. somethings up with the rear fender but prob just looped it and bent the plastic. its angled up real high EDIT: may be more than just the plastic, something doesn't look right back there. side plates aren't lined up correctly either. is the subframe bent?

vid sounds good but you can only tell so much from that. i was waiting for one more rev from lower RPM to see if it bogged.

    Re: 2002 CR 250 value

Ok, so ask about the sub frame.

I am in a good position because he will be coming up here to swap the stuff so I can veto and not be out anything.
