    Re: 2013 250f advice

try to jump on a few bikes at the compound party before buying. I reaaaaally wanted to try a 350 before pulling the trigger on the 450, but now i'm in love. If you have opportunities try before you buy, do it.

I think spending time on your suspension will yield gains on any OEM, I'd go with what you are comfortable working on, and where you can get cheapest parts... My yami's have been more "maintenance free" than any other OEM.

Oh, but whatever you get... mandatory shoot-out at my place

I kind of agree, so far I'm only seeing a Kawi on the list for the party though, and if I go Honda I'm really probably gonna wait for the new one, they redid the whole thing just like Yamaha is doing this year.

Shoot out? Your gonna tool on me haha I still have alot of work to do!

Ended up with this, Hondas were sold out everywhere and I didn't want to wait until September! I rode it for a few minutes yesterday and I am thoroughly impressed with it. Stupid powerful and handles pretty well from what I could tell

Have fun. They are pretty bad ass scooter. A friend of mine just picked one up and loves it. Put an hour meter on it and check the valves religiously.

I have an hour meter ready to go on it I just need to do it, I feel like I will be checking the valves very soon, they sound a but noisy right out of the gate

    Re: 2013 250f advice

    So quick review...

I am now at 33 hours on the hour meter and i had about 5 hours on the bike before i put the hour meter on it. There were 2 negatives to this bike! First off the stock chain SUCKED! literally stretched to the point of needing adjustment every time i rode. Other negative is that the Fork Seals blew already, from what i hear 30 hours is about the time you should do forks and shock anyways but i still didn't expect them to blow this quickly when i really haven't ridden the bike to to aggressively.

I also finally got to ride a Honda 250F, 2014 and i am SO happy i got the Kawi! The honda had a ton of low end and midrange power where the kawi kind of lacks the low end power but in my opinion the kawi handles WAY better. Regardless of reviews which say the hondas handle better, i really did not like the way it handled.

    Re: 2013 250f advice

It's funny that this thread just resurfaced. I got some seat time on a '14 Kx250f this past Friday, and I was really really impressed. I really hate to say this, being a die-hard 2 stroke guy, but I think it's the best MX bike I've ever ridden. Yes it hurts to say. A lot.

Your stock chain sounds like the Honda chains of the late 90s. complete shit. Hopefully some aftermarket fork seals will eliminate the leak problem.

Keep enjoying that thing, good choice man!

    I'm really happy with it!
The chain definitely was the cheapest chain they could have went with but fortunately chains and sprockets are normal wear items so I didn't feel terrible replacing them.

The forks I went with the heavy duty aftermarket seals, the stock ones are known to be weak, hopefully they last closer to 50 hours, I'd like to try and do 50 hour intervals with the suspension and pistons.

I did the valves at 15 and they were good, now at 33 hours and I can hear a little noise so I'm gonna adjust those. I have a piston and ring ready to go in it, just a matter of how many hours I wanna trust the stock one for, I don't ride to hard so I think 50 hours should be ok.
