    actually no...as a noob sucky rider, I'd *much* prefer a 4t for something as stupid as this (week or 2 ago):

    almost reg'd for this on the yz...no thanks!

    it seems to me way, way easier on an XR200R or xt225...low/rearward COG, you can just sit, lean back to stick the rear tire, let the pogo stick plush suspension absorb the bumps...now add more power, better suspension, and e-start = beta...I'd rock it!

    I'l bite. Why a 4t for that? (I only watched the climb shit-show at the beginning.) I know I'm not really one to talk, but some of those guys look like they have no idea wtf they are doing. I've found it's easier to ride a motorcycle when you're actually on it. Also immensely harder when you stop with your front wheel at the bottom of the biggest obstacle you can find.



    I think this is the one he talks about weighting the rear to maintain traction and how shockingly low 2t's can go before they "flame out" once you learn their thresholds.

    I absolutely guarantee that we would all make it farther on a challenge like that in the 125 playbike than on our won high performance bikes. I would go one further and say we would make it further with 19/16 wheels and floppy suspension. Power, height and stiffness are all working against you in these conditions. Bottom the fuck out of it. Who cares. pin it. No problem. Sure as hell aren't tipping over.

    Paul - am I reading your posts correctly? Opposite day?

    @bubba - yes, it's an AMA dual sport event...same as LAB2V guys...bunch of amateurs having fun(?)...I would say same level as most people in here?

    @typeone - I never rode a beta 2 stroke ensure, but I'd still bet it's easier than 2 stroke MX in a section like that...the stiff suspension, tall COG/riding height, and explosive power are too much for a 1st gear paddle walk

    Hahaa, bottom line is I love all dirty bikes, but I know from experience that I can tackle harder stuff, ride more aggressive, slide better, jump better, do pretty much everything better on bikes that are a little smaller and a lot less powerful. I'm only on this kick because everyone on NESR always recommends more power.

    So how does this compare to other small bore dual sports, say a CRF250L? Obviously it's lighter, but I figure less power as well. The Beta is much sexier, that's for sure.

    I'll take the old 300 with the cheater clutch on any hill over any bike I can think of. Especially that one break dirt poster. That video bubba posted had some good info. I like practicing slow on medium difficulty hills and stopping.

    That would have been a nice bike to consider a few years ago when we opted for the TT-R125LE for my wife. A touch more spunk, street legal, slightly roomier chassis for an adult, full size wheels, and not a huge jump in price. Based on reported top speed, the CRF250L suddenly looks far less appealing.

    but that description is spot on...the low/mid-mid power delivery is ideal for tricky technical trail riding...not like the bonzai 2-stroke 125

    After riding both a 125 and 200 two smoke, I can't see the benefit of more peak HP. Smaller bikes (dimensionally) would make SO much sense for the type of gross rocky rooty woods riding I do.
