Hoping we get great weather, what is everyone's idea of a rain date?
OK...
We had about 30 bikes last year, and had a great time! Both MX style woods track and flat track (TT), hoping to score live music for Saturday night.
When? Saturday 10:00 am July 28 until 7:00 pm Sunday July 29
Where? Addison, VT
What? Riding (flat track, woods, mx), BBQ, Camping
Who? Folks who RSVP on facebook.
PLEASE RSVP to the facebook event (pm me your info for an invite) if you're coming so that we do not have any waste or shortage of food.
I think it will be a bit larger than last year, so Meg & I could use some help with cooking/grilling/organizing. I may post up some video of the track, or pictures from last year to give folks an idea of what's going on or what to expect... The track has been expanded about 20% including widened and some turns straightened out.
Local places to stay:
There's a handful of local B&B's and hotels, so if you aren't interested in the camping bit, just ask for some suggestions.
Local to-do's:
For folks who have partners who may not be thrilled about being track-side all weekend, we're 5 miles from lake champlain (swimming/kayaking), 1/2 mile from snake mountain (hiking), 12 miles from Middlebury (breweries & shops), & 30 miles from Burlington.
Changes:
-BYOB: We committed a sin last year and let a good portion of a quality Otter Creek Keg go to waste, so this year we'll be doing BYOB (Only if you're done riding for the day).
-Music: Hoping to have a good PA set-up for the day, but get a band or two for sat night (will probably include more non-riders sat night than last year). If you have any interest or folks willing to be heard, let me know... I have a couple lines on live music in the works.
-Suggested donation: The local guys who work on the track know how expensive track building & maintenance can be, let alone the hundreds in food... Last year we did "pay if you feel like it", but not many folks felt like it... It wasn't meant to be profitable, but out of 30 bikes, we averaged about $5 per rider/bike for 2 days of riding, camping, eating. This year the biggest change is, we're not recouping any party costs with donations - all donations will go towards a missions trip to Ethiopia in 2013. SUGGESTED DONATION $10 to eat & camp for the weekend, $10/Day to Ride
-Friday: We will be extremely limited on camping friday night unless we look into/grab a portable bathroom for the weekend. Our septic system just isn't up for 300 flushes and 60 showers a weekend.
