Question Baja X 250...? Pros... Cons...?

Do any of you folks have first hand knowledge on the Baja X 250 off-road rigs...? Looks like a CRF with an air cooled XR engine with an electric start...

I cannot find a great deal of detail on them.

    Anyone...?

    Good or bad...

    Thanks,
    Rob

Re: Baja X 250...? Pros... Cons...?

Parts can be hard to find, fasteners are all much lower grade / quality materials than you'd get from a bigger brand, tolerances are worse, very little if any actual engineering was done for the frame/etc, it's more just aim for a look and throw stuff from the parts bin at it to get there, plastics are brittle and may not match a brand you can get replacements for, wiring is suspect...

agree with these guys... i had one of their minibikes with a rigid frame, quality was lacking across the board for sure. (i only wanted the frame)

are you looking for a smaller dirt bike? i'm going to put my PitsterPro X4 146cc up for sale soon.

    Got it...

I was hoping it would be good, I like the idea of an E button on a 250...

An XR it is then I guess.

    Thanks for the input.

    Rob

This is the one I had seen for sale.

I worked at a Pep Boys once and had the job of putting them together and testing them. They usually ran and were fine in the parking lot, sold alot of them but getting parts is rather a pain in the ass.

depend on it's purpose for the price you can get a decent used honda and be able to get parts when they break.

SDG is out of the game, Sikk MX just never got their quality up, they rebadged whatever was coming out of the clone shops rather than doing any design work themselves.

Pitster's 150 and 230 upright singles have tempted me a couple times. I can get them new at or below used TTR125 / CRF100 prices... just can't pull the trigger though after all the time I've got maintaining chinese pitbikes and engines, the cost difference isn't big enough yet.

Re: Baja X 250...? Pros... Cons...?

+1 on the Pitster X4 being above average. My 07 is from the first batch to ever hit the US and it's still running strong. I even paid for a woods registration on it this year so I can ride it at Hodges and Wrentham. Keep in mind that I'm 200 lbs. and I sold my KTM 450, but kept the Pitster. LOL

Ok, I will only ride my YZ250F at Crow Hill from now on, but I have raced the Pitster there with no issues.

The X250 looks more like an old Loncin type motor and they only had a somewhat low end reputation with pit bikes. I wouldn't buy one used unless it was ultra cheap, like $150.00

Lifan did some OEM stuff for some of the big Japanese companies for years, so It's not impossible to think China could build a real woods bike if they did some R&D and quality control like the better pit bikes. I'd still wait for either an adult owned YZ250F or CRF 250 around 07 or newer.

Re: Baja X 250...? Pros... Cons...?

My neighbor has a baja and i will say it surprised me. For all the beatings we put on it its still alive. Id say the engine is fine but its everything else that attached to it thats the issue. Id say the biggest problems are the plastics are super brittle and just shatter with no replacements available or even wanted since they will just break again and fasteners that hold important things together like the handle bars and stuff just are garbage. Ive never seen a bike with more hose clamps and rewelds keeping it alive.
It is a tank though. Super heavy and not really fast but it does the job. Its only used for woods and i think it shines in there. Its a workout to deal with the weight but its very stable and planted. He paid almost nothing for it and is kinda happy but its not worth alot very quickly. Last time we were out the gas tank mounts fell off and we had to ditch it till we came back with another tank from a real dirty bike. Its the only time its let us down.
