40'? That'd still be going straight, I'm sure I can out-drag a dirt bike for 40' on the sled. It's the handling I'm worried about. I've never ridden groomed trails, just backwoods shit and fields.

    1. within 40' we will hit a turn.

    2. Maybe you could out drag my bike on it, maybe not.. This thing is prety brutal fast. Much faster than the 250's and 426, shit it makes more outright power and tq than my racebike and weighs 115 lbs less.... We will see.

    1) Damnit.
    2) I'm thinking traction more than power. I'd be surprised if your dirt bike will grab snow as well as my track. Ice would be a different story, but we're hearing the trails suck for bikes, and we're getting another snowstorm Sat. No idea what'd happen if we hooked up equally.

PArking lot is usualy solid ice, trail head is usualy soft powder. Right hander is the big variable...

I guarandamntee ya you'd crush me there. If I've learned anything about sledding so far it's to keep plenty in reserve until you know the trail and have run it. These things can get out of hand in a real hurry, I don't see myself going balls out into the first groomed turn I've ever been through. Especially at a place I don't know.

OTOH, once we've done a trail once or twice...

I'm hoping I can make it.

If i have learned anything about riding a dirtbike in the snow its that the more the tire is spinning the more grip it seems to get. Lends to my riding style well, when in doubt gas it..... Strange huh?

Good to hear. Some groomed trails turn to shear ice by the end of the day, making navigating on a sled real tough...

Hrmmm... this has entertainment potential, and it's only 60 miles from me...

    Do I:
    A) Screw up my existing shot knobbies (More like mild speed-bumpies)
    B) Find the cheapest set of new knobs locally and run'em as is
    C) A + B with a plan of pulling the screws once the snow is gone for Southwick

I'm not sure if removing the screws messes with the knobbies. If not, I'd go with C. If it's loose powder you'll want the knobs, if it's icy you'll want the screws.

You can remove the screws but it leaves holes in the Knobs. What size tires do you run? I have a set of dunlops you can have but they aint great, just enough tread to stud and not poke through the other side.

I'd say stud what ya got. get a new set for summer.

18 rear, 21 front. I'm thinking I'm going to get a box of cheapie screws and just muck'em up so I can at least toodle around the yard this weekend.

If you route your trip through Barnstead, I have a bunch of 7/16" screws you can have. They were given to me, but couldn't possibly hold up to the torque of the Raptor...
