    Bike issues

Thanks for your help in advance.

After 10 minutes of riding or so I start to notice this problem.

In the corners, or when the bike is going slow it seems to want to stall. Kind of like its running out of gas..... yet there is plenty of gas.

But in the straight aways or when I'm hard on the throttle it seems to be fine.

Could it be overheating since when I'm slowing down..... its when the heat catches up ??

My buddy seems to think its the clutch but I can't fathom how they relate.

Too much gas? High float level?

Bogging when fuel demand is low, but ok when wfo...sounds like either clogged pilot jet maybe?

I'm not an expert by any means, but that's my .02

    Re: Bike issues

Its fuel injected. I did have a power commander on there before... took it off to see if that was the problem and apparently it wasnt.
I want to say its bogging but why would the bike stall ? When I bog the bike still runs.... but just like shit, it doesn't want to die. This bike wants to stall. And it takes a lot of clutch work and proper blips of the throttle to prevent it from dying.

Thanks for the suggestions. Maybe youre onto to something

    Re: Bike issues

hmm, ya not sure but I'd look into the FI unit. Also leaks on intake or exhaust pipe etc

    Re: Bike issues

If the clutch is not properly adjusted it very well could pull the engine down.

Outside of that, pinched vent line or leak at the intake boot?

Could something be wrong with the fuel tank/pump or roll over valve?

    Re: Bike issues

I think I found the problem. The regulator/rectifier bracket broke off. So the regulator/rectifier was laying ontop of the motor........ so what Im guessing is, when the bike slows down....... that device gets too hot and it causes the bike to want to stall.....

I just dropped off the bike at a fabrication shop to weld back on the bracket. It has to be that......... I cant think of anything else and it would make perfect sense.

As I'm looking more into it. I see other users on other forums post " make sure its connected to the frame so it disperses heat". Since it was NOT connecting to the frame, this further concurs with my theory right ?

That R/R is probably toast now, be careful that it doesn't take out your battery and/or stator with it if it is bad.

    Re: Bike issues

    It doesnt have a battery.

Heres the thing. the bike starts acting up after a good ride. When I let it cool down the bike starts and runs fine. Its just after a few hard laps, its starts acting like shit.

I'm fairly confident its that . It regulates the voltage right? So what happens if it gets too hot and starts to shut off ? voltage goes down..... correct ? with low voltage the bike will want to shut off

FI and no battery? That will definitely cause funny things to happen when it doesn't get the right voltage, which an overly hot R/R will cause. Since there is no battery I wouldn't expect any damage to any of the other components, so I would say put it in the proper spot and test it out. If you still have problems then the R/R is probably shot.

    Re: Bike issues

I'm praying thats the problem. If not then I'm out of ideas and will be forced to submit it to a shop.

    Thanks for your input.

    Re: Bike issues

If that doesn't work, try bumping the idle speed up a bit. Sounds like you're getting what the magazines have been calling "flame-out;" it was common on the early FI MX bikes. Can't remember if the Suzuki was one of the ones having those issues, but I remember the Hondas were kinda known for it.

    Re: Bike issues

I found the problem. The regulator/rectifier needs to be grounded ! It was grounded when attached to the bracket which was attached to the frame.

Being broken off the frame and laying ontop of the motor, only allows a ground connection when it touches. When I go over bumps, which causes it to not make contact, will cause the ground connection to fail and then shut off.

I hope lol I'll test it out Sunday morning !
