wow...that's a ton of extra fuel...
so does it fit under the OEM tank shrouds? that looks like it'll look stock
it's actually a 2.9 gal tank, mistyped but still sweet to carry a gallon more. the stock tank is very small.
as for fit... if you look at pics of the WR150s, the motor is TINY which leaves tons of room. IMS did a nice job making the whole package work/look better than stock. shrouds fit no problem as well. even the gas cap is said to work better. (i hate the cap on my TC, too)
btw, talked to my guy about the custom power valve grind last night. he completed the work in a matter of hours and is sending it all back out today. sick one-day turnaround. he even honed the cylinder for me! gotta love the dirt bike community sometimes.
the regrind gets me more low end. various base gaskets for dialing in squish have been shipped as well. i cant wait to ride this freekin' thing.

nice! it's going to look sick!
[noob] which part of the exhaust valve are they grinding away, and how does that increase low end? I read in eric gorr's 2-stroke rebuilding guide, that the exhaust valve, when in its lowest position in the cylinder, closes part of the exhaust port, which increases the velocity of the gases, giving you more low end.
so if you grind more of the exhaust valve away, aren't you opening up the exhaust port more, allowing more gas to go through, slowing down the velocity, and losing low end?
[/noob]
You have to grind the valves to match the piston/cylinder if you go to a big bore, I'm assuming that's what he's having done?
in my case, the power valve grind is more of a reshaping to improve the bottom/mid response rather than just resizing. i have three sets of valves, 1. the 144cc valves, 2. the upgraded 125cc valves and 3. the original 125cc valves that Husqvarna recalled due to poor performance. the upgraded set (#2) were their replacements.
the guy that did the mod for me has been experimenting with different grinds over the past year or so to get better performance (exclusively on the WR). he also worked with different PV governor spring rates to move the power curve around but i won't need to mess with those.
the original, recalled 125cc PVs were a perfect set for him to work with since they're a tad longer than the 144 set providing a better seal once the grind is done.
i can snap a comparison pic for you guys once they arrive, OEM 144 vs modded 144.
Beta 200RR
man it's nice working on a little 2-stroke again! stupid basic
i was too greasy to take pics of everything but... 144 kit with new PVs is on, disk guards are on, bigger rear sprocket is on and IMS tank is on.
everything when super smooth except for the left-side rad shroud, needs a little heat to fit with the tank better. guess those molds aren't so precise.
few heat cycles on the new top end, eval the jetting situation (actually feels pretty crisp!), ship the carb to RB for a divider plate then she's ready to roost. wOoT!

NICE!!!
If you don't mind me asking... what's your height/weight?
"Life is a tour, not a race... just stay out of my way when I'm touring!"
thanks... i'm 5'11" ~175lbs
while i was working on the bike i was really appreciating how clean the PO got the thing before sale. i think even the airbox and boot are new too. removing all sorts of stuff you could see how he cleaned and greased EVERYWHERE. huge plus.
only two things i've found he didnt mention are a tiny tear in the seat cover and the rubber bar mount bushings are junk. twisted barssame issue on my TC after a few wrecks, they just dont go straight again, so i'll grab another set of nylon bushings from BRP. way more durable.

Sounds awesome
New pics or it isn't true tho![]()

i know, lame. i took the camera out with me but said fuggit as i was working. i'm terrible about documenting the process even though i love threads like that.
pipe guard should be in this week so i'll do a sexy little shooti was cracking up riding around the yard, been a while since i heard the ringie-dingie, BRRAAAP!
question: do any of you guys use Engine Ice? i needed coolant and Wagner only had Engine Ice and Beemer stuff. i grabbed some Engine Ice and asked if it was compatible with Spectro or similar... parts guy said you can drain/fill no problem. now i just read you should always flush completely with distilled (+ vinegar optional) then use the Engine Ice. lame.
guess i'll do a proper flush then refill but that shit was expensive!

P3 pipe guard arrived today but didn't fit the FMF Fattyi was told it could work but no dice, just didnt sit on the pipe correctly. i was afraid to tighten the clamps too much and crack the carbon/resin.
spoke with Eric at P3 and he said he wasn't surprised it didnt fit but if i could ship my pipe to him, he'd make the mold and give me the first production unit FOR FREE. hells yes. at the same time i was talking to him, Hall's contacted me back about it and said they were shipping an FMF to him asap and to return my stock guard. cool, i'm good with that. all around nice shops to work with... just gotta wait it out again now.
don't have any shots from the 144 build up but here's the bike as of this afternoon:
front guard, big tank, 50T rear sprocket
rear guard
front close w/axle nut
rear close
TXC 250 screw-type petcock, 144 cyl/head (just looks stock)
oil cap bling (stocker was busted), need to secure that IMS cross-over line

Lookin good! You must be excited to ride it
What's all the white crap all over the ground?![]()
Yamaha
thanks, yeah, very excited to really test it out on the powerline trails near my house.
as soon as i get some time, i need to dig into the jetting to make sure everything is baseline before final tuning. the bike was set up for 600ft ASL which is pretty good for our areas too (~500 - 1100ft) but i have some tips/tricks to try out as mentioned... different needle, slide and jets. actually felt pretty good around the yard but maybe a little rich.
i'm running 32:1 Spectro syn in it for a bit while the top end breaks in... then i'll move to 40:1 Spectro syn like the PO ran. said he had good luck.
Beta 200RR
Not gonna lie, I wanna put on a robber mask and steal that bike from you
Ya, I run engine ice. If you have distilled water you can even just throw that in, start it up for a minute then drain and add the engine ice. If you have a little vinegar then I would throw that in like they say.

It looks awesome... and I'm 50lbs heavier than you.... lol. You are tempting me to get a 125.

i never leave the house, i can see it from my office window![]()
thanks, i should have just listened to my gut and picked up some distilled to flush it quick but just wanted to button it all back up. i knew the parts guy wasn't correct, grrr.
thanks, man. guys much bigger than me are riding these little bikes and having a blast in the woods. think i'll be really happy i didnt go for the 250. if Wagner had taken the cash i had in my hand that's what would have happened. close call!
what's the lastest asking price? Chris my neighbor is now contemplating a little one-two-five for woods... but he's way bigger than me... i think he should grab obsoletes 250. told him he should have never let that 450 go.
Beta 200RR
just went to look for your pics but not live anymore... can you PM me some pics? i'll shoot them over to him.
he's a Honda/Kawi guy but since the bike has been so solid you never know.
Beta 200RR
O man I almost forgot Paul had a 250f....TRADER!

it was weird taking off for the first ride on the 125, so used to my 250F now, felt like there was no real torque, like weird free-rev feeling, then you climb on the pipe and the front wheel gets crazy light. psyched to be back in the club
thanks, i'll zap all the info over to him.
