    Give The Boy His Choice...

We told the boy who is just turning 9 that we would basically do whatever he wanted to do for his birthday party this year. This is what he went with. Life really is good...

Smart kid. Most kids would want the new iphone or some other bullshit. Good to see young kids enjoying the outdoors.

He's ALL about riding: his ATV's, snowmobiles, dirtbikes, bicycles...WHATEVER! Also very proud to point out that we have zero game consoles in the house (NEVER have!) and he has no 'devices' other than a hand-me-down iPod that he listens to music on and a GoPro Hero. We have no pay channels (HBO, Showtime, etc), no NetFlix or any of that shit either...

My 15-year daughter got a phone when she was 13 so she could keep in touch after school. A full year of honors got her a limited data plan. She needs to maintain honors or we turn off her data. She also lives to ride ATV's & snowmobiles...

I'm pretty proud of our methods...

Raising em' right. Thats the way to do it. It's sad seeing all these kids plugged into phones and consoles. It starts with the parents though. I'm only in my 20s but man things have changed. I don't even see the neighborhood kids outside anymore. We used to be outside 24/7. Congrats on a couple good kids.

Thanks, man. We have what some would consider pretty harsh rules when it comes to that shit. We have friends that are amazed we 'get away with' not having game consoles and not allowing our kids to be 'plugged in' constantly. We try...

They also love to fish and like to tag along when I'm whitetail hunting. They're both just getting into archery as well...

Forgot to add that we have a daughter your age as well. She HATED that we didn't let her ride the device wave as it came into play. Years later, now with two kids of her own she's thanking us and vows to raise them the same...

Ha ha! I won't get into the adult sundries we ADULTS indulged in at day's end. Let's just say it's wonderful what you can do with a commercial grade slushy machine & tequila...and Apple Jack & cider among other things...

It's pretty sad (and I think indicative of some of the problems in this country) when parents talk about "getting away with" being in charge of their own children, and they're not entirely joking when they say it. WAY too many families are run by the children.

Blows our mind too, which is why I used quotes around that. We throw it right at those folks too. When ta fuck did the kids get control? Nah, we don't play that game either. That mentality makes us cringe...

Looks like a fun day for everyone. Great job with keeping the kids unplugged.

Kids get control when parents get lazy.
