Well, I made several changes at once. When I installed the fatty, I also installed a stiffer rear spring. This combination worked out really well for me. Prior to these changes, I was having difficulty turning in the tight stuff.

Standing the fatty side by side with the Pirelli Scorpion that came off, the fatty was easily 3 inches taller. I was amazed.

On the down side, I have a Terra-X lowering kit in my 350. Now, as it sits, it is almost back to stock seat height.

Wow, 3 inches is a LOT. I would thin you could raise the forks like 2" in the triples. You will get your seat height back down, and get somewhere closer to traditional chassis settings. The stiffer spring effectively raised the rear a little, but not close to 3".

    sometimes you just gotta plow.
I'm not staring at my dirt bike, but I don't think there's 2" of slide available on those fork tubes, and then you'd likely have some interference with hand guard mounts and/or handlebars and wires and hoses up above. strictly speaking off the cuff.

    Re: Bumpy tires again

i think by pure mfg spec measurements the Fatty was 1" larger than my standard Motoz front, would have to look it up. Joel posted the difference at one point.

i def had to make adjustments, forks were already raised but i had to go up in the rear a bunch to get the bike turning again.

WOAH! the difference wasn't that dramatic here. what size tire is your previous one again?

found the spec i was referring to.. .

the pic sucks but it's def a beefy tire... +0.4" sidewall, +0.8" diameter (going by numbers alone).

    Re: Bumpy tires again

    Wow, that's drastic.

I have 0" of space to raise the forks in my triples, so unfortunately these are a non-starter for me unless I jack up the rear even higher.

    Re: Bumpy tires again

For some strange reason it doesn't seem to slow the turning at all, at least for me. That tire is a game changer, like running a damper for the first time, getting an auto clutch, or getting stock suspension done. Rocks, mud, slippery roots, sand, it grips consistently better than any other tire I have used. It recovers nicely when it pushes. It also makes the suspension feel better.

I believe that pic is a comparison of an 80/100-21 Michelin AC-10 against the Fatty. The difference between the Fatty and the Pirelli Scorpion was not as great, but it was still very significant.

My Terra-X lowering kit also has a 35mm spacer that installs under the upper triple clamp. This allows me to raise the fork tubes even higher.

I agree with all of this. It also has an odd affect of enhancing stability over gnarly stuff - almost like a damper.

    Re: Bumpy tires again

    few updates.. .

    - the weirdo Sedona seems to be working well for my buddy so far, he's been running it at 5psi w/TUbliss.
    - i'm still running the revised Motoz Tractionator S/T rear but reversed it's direction. still bummed they got rid of the rim protector.
    - ordered TUbliss for rear on my bike, can't wait. was getting jealous hearing C+C talk about the benefits although the new Motion Pro beefy rim lock i put on has been working much better (tire slip every ride before swapping).
    - throwing on a GEN5 Fatty front soon as well, supposed to be a revised compound, 5mm narrower with same height.

    - once this Motoz rear wears out, think i will try the Kenda IBEX next but i want a 110. only avail in 120 at the moment.

dunlop At81: thumbs down at conventional 10-15psi. I'm not comfy going less than 10psi with a tube and on a 4t. like a fucking bowling ball.

    Re: Bumpy tires again

After my trip to the great north both tires are SMOKED

I bought another MT16 rear. I know i should experiment but.. It's hard when this works so good. But after watching Slaven's Racing's review last night on the Ibex I think I will try one. I think I'm going to give the B Stone a while on the front this time. One problem I have with the Fatty is that it hits my pipe guard when I land off jumps and shit.

I will say for certain that the MT16/Fatty combo worked really well up north in the relentless rocks and mega climbs..

sweet! where did you ride? sounds like an awesome time

on the Golden front, mabye try the 90/90-21. same width as Fatty but less height.

saw Jeff's review on the IBEX as well, i've been really interested in this tire but his latest vid made my mind up. i don't want a tall tire, the IBEX looks like a sweet hybrid mix without going tall.

I am working on a write up of the trip. Both to share and document the memories so when I'm old and can't remember I can be reminded of how totally over the top this trip of a lifetime was.

BTW. We rode 6 days on the Gaspe` peninsula in Quebec..

This was some type of guided adventury hootenanny?
    Looks fun.
I'd like to do more things where I don't necessarily have to think about where I'm going.

I've been watching the trip on the social media. It looked like a blast. When you right that up give us some details on how to do it.
