They sold several hundred, but soon after, that part of the company went tits up. A lot of the Ohlins suspension parts ended up on a lot of super moto bikes.

Anybody ever get to ride one?

Some cool ideas, but they were way too ambitious IMHO.

Actually just read something about how in 2003 the went bankrupt and some company called ATK bought all their stuff. I guess you can buy ATK some where. They are still having the same issues I guess, too heavy less power, but suppodly still using the high end Ohlins Suspension. IM a sucker for this crap. The differet bikes etc...

The assets were auctioned off and ATK bought a lot of the machines and inventory. They had a Computrack machine as well. I don't know where it ended up.

    Cannondale Motocross

When I lived out west there were a few moto dealers that were supposed to carry them. Being a mtn biker and a motorcyclist, I was curious. The couple of dealers that were supposed to carry them either never got any in their shops or got one and no parts or support from Cannondale (a.k.a. "crack and fail") Too bad.

I went back and read an old article from 2001, the thing had some potential. It was really sweet looking and the ohlins suspension was cool.

    Thumbs down Cannondale Motocross

My freind raced one for a season it was apiece of shit electric start only no kick starter fuel injection ,never started constently jumpstarting it and it was heavy, but the ohlins were nice just my 2 cents.

That seemed to be the constant complaint, too heavy and no kick start.

There was a dealer in south central Mass that used to sell them, I forgot the name of the dealer though? They had dyno days and bike wash days all the time.
They also built MX quads and used the ohlins front and rear, I remember at the time they had better success with the quads than they did with the dirtbikes...though that could be because at the time, they were the olny manufacturer that offered a MX quad.

They actually had one at GBM if I remember correctly. The one time I saw it, it had a nice trail of oil dripping down the fork tubes from an over-oiled air filter (behind the number plate). I thought the reversed intake/exhauset path really made sense, but I also remember the thing being plagued by problems with apparently no support from Cannondale. Really poor showing from a company that seemed to have the means to do better.
