I've only been on weekdays, but it's pretty sparse then. No need for groups. The fast guys just fly over you. In the most literal meaning.

I found some spare brand new bearings for the yellow monster. I think they were dupe's from when I rebuilt the steering head. I'll try to bring them tomorrow for ya!

I don't find it to be crowded ever really. They start grouping when there are 90 bikes or something. I haven't seen them run groups yet this year...

    It won't be crowded.
All kinds of skill levels - the vast majority are newbies, to intermediates, with only a handful of fast, and maybe 1-2 really fast guys.
It really is a beginner/family friendly place to be. I can't tell you how many people I talk to "first time riding mx".
My concern isn't a closure (which MAJOR rain would cause), but absolute clam chowder conditions. The mud is MUUD and is literally like riding in teh thickest clam chowder you can imagine. Fun, but definitely a different ride than dry, and not as fun as dry.

Yeah, pray that it doesn't dump again tonight... That chowder is brutal on a 125, and it's always in the landing zones making jumping a game of rouillette.

    Re: Crow Hill the 13th??

I've been to Crow Hill once ever when it was relatively dry. Puddles there aren't fun!

(in the woods, yes, on an MX track being the slow guy, no!)

Paul, the bike is loaded up in the truck. She took nearly 4 kicks to start with old gas and not being run since last time I saw you. Damn Hondas.....

Suspension probably needs to be tweaked, I haven't touched it since I got it back from PK. I brought a screwdriver for just that reason.

If it's too wet and I'm not feelin it, I'll stick around to watch you play for a few laps, then bid you both farewell and leave you to your devices with her.

I'm usually tired as hell within 15 laps, so I don't go through much. I'll be bringing 2 extra gallons of 32:1 if you need it.

I did a couple laps up and down the driveway and around the yard just to remind myself what it was like to ride on dirt. Should be a slow day tomorrow!

    GREAT time guys.
Great to Mark out there getting better and better with each session.
Definitely change out those ridiculous fork seals and front brakes.
Also - I'd try and get a front brake lever - not sure what kind of "tech" they have there, but that lever is like a sword if it were to fall on you.

haha. thats all you get for now as i just finished washing the bike so i can change the fork seals, install new brake pads, fill and bleed the front brake, sort out the clutch, clean and oil the filter and see if i can make any sense out of the suspension..... before friday night.

lol, in any event, if your seals were leaking when i picked it up, they are smoked now!

fyi, if you thought it rode rough, it may have been the maxed out preload. we should have looked at that.

and additionally. justin and dave are quick.... paul fucking flys. secondly, your bike has a good motor, but i really forgot how fast an mx 250 really is (thanks justin).

    Re: Crow Hill the 13th??

Yeah dudes, that was fun. It's amazing to me how tough it is to ride a different bike on the dirt. I get really thrown off my game riding strange bikes. Clayton's CR125 is great though. It's pretty easy to ride but the front springs are just too soft for me. Any landing the was not on a downramp had me bottoming. The bike also has a tendency to tuck the front. I may be able to dial that out with the clickers.

Clayton, The chain and sprockets are AWFUL on this thing! I didn't have faith that I could finish the day on those, so I put my chain on there. SHould get me through the school, but there are teeth like nubs on there and I'm a little doubtful. Not that I'm complaining. It was awesome of you to lend it to me.

I rode David's CR250 for a few laps. Scared the poop out of me. Too much power. It could be better with some carb tuning, but I couldn't open the throttle in the corners without wheelying out of the ruts and heading off track. Just very abrupt.

    I see a 250F in my future.

    Re: Crow Hill the 13th??

Yeah, those chain/sprockets were at the end of their life a while ago.

My type of riding is a couple hours per day, so I figured it would last until a week or two from now. I neglected to realize that people like yourself ride a lot more!

Waiting on a chain/sprocket set for the KLR right now. Once that comes in, I'll get a set for that thing.
