I think Paul just underestimates our ability to do things wrong and is constantly amazed by the results.
I've been looking for a place to learn *any* steer-with-the-rear skills on my CRF250L, and my son (6) is enamored with the idea of trying a motorcycle. I looked at the online schedule for WVRC and didn't see anything like noob schools on there, but it sounds like they might do that sort of thing?
Just show up for an open practice day, roll up to the track and raise your hands while yelling 'HALP!'
In all seriousness, show up for an open practice and talk to people, it'll be hard not to as they are a VERY friendly crew. You'll get all the instruction you can put up with.
Just got my sticker...what a pia....but it's official!

I'd like a new muffler for the KTM to make it louder. It doesn't need any more power! Should I go with Pro-Circuit or FMF?
just remove the packing, way cheaper!
Steering with the rear - find a field and do circles is best first choice. Second best is WVCR. It helps tremendously.
If you are serious, you could also remove the end cap and packing, cut it shorter for free, and reinstall the end cap with new or less old packing. That will make it louder.
If you want to buy something, a racer and mechanic who's opinion I respect recommended the FMF silencer for my KTM 2stroke recently. It was during a discussion on jetting, weight savings, and power.
Be aware that if you are woods riding, some places require a spark arrester, and some KTM stock silencers qualify.
