    Dirt Shark - The Doonies

imho - looks like you can do more, and have way more fun on a dirt bike off-road than a trophy truck, and spend a lot less!

(now...just need to rewind 25 years and start learning to ride dirt bikes as a kid)

Re: Dirt Shark - The Doonies

i have a buddy that was at glamis several weeks ago. hes now relearning how to walk. came over a dune that had a 50ft drop, broke his back (L3 i think). they had to fuse his spine together. 2 kids, wifes a teacher and he owned his own custom auto body shop where im pretty sure he was the only employee. he told me they were sending him home in the next couple days. he doesnt want to leave the hospital because he can barely walk without assistance. shit happens fast out there.

sorry to hear about your bud - but I learned pretty early - this ain't a track where you know every corner - gotta ride desert/dunes like you're at night - don't override what you can't see!

gets worse with alcohol - many people die out there every year, which is why they started bringing in fences, rangers, and rules...older riders keep complaining about "the man trying to ruin our fun" but when people are stealing from each other out there and people are getting killed, IMHO - it's not so fun anymore

I plan on going mid week...should have the whole place to myself and friends!

The adult in me says bad...bad reputation...bad putting self and others in harm's way...bad driving something not conforming to street legal standards on the road...

But the kid in me loves that thing...can haul ass in the desert and drive it to the grocery store since it has a plate...that's why I love plated dirt bikes I would use it more than 4 times per year

Oh yeah, that things sick for sure. All I can think of is a life size rc truck.

Well see how much trouble he actually gets for it. Could have made a sick video out in the desert somewhere.

Re: Dirt Shark - The Doonies

They are so rad for sure...and I am starting to learn that a way to get 'em street legal is an old enough bug that doesn't have to pass emissions...then frame, tires, suspension, motor, and WHOAAAAA

Still seems like a lot of money...plus Paul said it best when he described the desert like a sandpaper environment - it's super harsh and wears through everything. Most desert trips that I have been on with guys on car/truck chasis vehicles break something (belts on razr's...exhaust shield on f-150..,axles on trucks) and the cost to fix em can buy a dirt bike

Maybe someday for me...when my body's done with dirtbikes...or I meet that divorced cougar sugar mama

If he drives like that do ya think he cares about the cops? Lol. He'll just go to court and pay some fines.

If u gonna make a video like that atleast say its in a different town then it actually was, i don't believe in handing out evidence so easily.
