I ride a lot so I'm looking for something cheap and that will last, not overly concerned with super traction, I like it loose and I can ride around it. Wore out the tires that came on my bike in like two weekends. Mostly trails, very rare occasion down at the SX track but no tires are going to make a difference in my riding there.
size? I have a set lying around doin nothin. $free

There's a Dunlop sale somewhere, I'll have to look around for it? D756 front and rear as a set for $100. I liked the feel of them for trail riding but they do wear down a little quick IMO.
Not good for ice studding either, the side knobs rip off

good timing
something similar was just being discussed over at thumpertalk:

the consensus was that the best combination of longevity and cost were trials tires (particularly with longevity), cheng shin, and maxxis IT
You never said anything about "new". These are old tires that Degsy handed me. I never used em cuz the rear is an 18".

Well I have plenty of worn out tires, so that's not really worth the effort of mounting.
Mark, I hear good stuff about trials tires, except they'll be completely worthless on anything loose, would not be able to ride any track/sand with them, and I'm guessing they don't do too great in mud.
I usually snag the cheapest knobby I can find. Currently a cheng shin c755 or 775 whatever the number is. But I run an 18....

I hear the dunlop mx51 wear pretty good, no feedback as far as offroad use though. I would assume they work nice...medium terrain tire but pretty tall knobs overall so should work well in sand/mud. Lugs aren't super close so shouldn't have a big problem with mud packup.

Jay,
I've been on the Pirelli MT16 and MT18 front/back and I love them. You saw them last few times we rode. I never have issues with traction and they are wearing pretty solid for me.
Somewhat cheap, motorcyclesuperstore usually has them on sale.

I ran these on my WR426/YZ450 with no problems...never touched the street though, only dirt (not sure what you've got for a bike). I also never hit a track or anything other than woods with em.

These were probably my fav's just because they were tough but still offered really good grip and predictable handling (read, when sliding or pushing out).

Trials tire will not do you wrong. I have been running one now for 2 seasons and it just now needs to be replaced.
That's probably about 100 miles of pavement. The only thing I never liked about the trials was in deep mud. I won't run anything but a trials tire again.
