Nice project and nice first dirtbike. It will do everything including jump just fine. When you do step up, you'll have a great trainer bike to pass along to someone else.

    Re: My First Dirtbike

hope to have the bike finally done by Sept 5th and hopefully take it on some trails!

Once I get home tonight I have to order:

    OEM Fork Boots and clamps
Front and Rear Sprockets (that fit my bike unlike the last one they sent)
    New Sprocket bolts
    New Throttle and Decompression cables

should have my seat back by the begining of this week. Then I need to have my front brake rebuilt completely (the pistons just fell out and are fucked up and it needs new pads as well). Then have to adjust the carb (which i took apart and cleaned) and get me a plate

I think I got in a bit over my head on this bike.

I paid 400$ for it, and now im in about another 900$-1100$...and if I just saved up I coulda bought a bike that was actually fine...lol...but I had fun working on it and actually learned a lot and realized I could do alot more than I thought. I just can't wait to actually ride it

    shitty dude

but actually, I wouldn't say you did that bad: you paid what it's worth

some guys on CL want more money than what you paid for much worse condition bikes!

from a kid that's never had any job until he was 22, and owned 3 vintage motorcycles that are broken 90% of the time, I know how that feels

    ITS ALIVE!!!

Finally after getting the right sprockets I was able to put on the chain and take her for a few laps around my back yard (only in 1st gear though...still dont have any front brakes lol) and when I did get on it it felt great! (My nieghbors are prob like wtf?)

Waiting for pistons, seals, and pads to come in and im finally DONE

    SWEEEEEEET

you know what though ... if ya bought a new pretty bike ... ya prolly wouldn't want to ride it and would be pissed if you wrecked. A 14 year old bike you put a little time and money into .... mehh if you wreck you can fix it .... confidence far out weighs show-off-manship.

    Re: My First Dirtbike

Ill try and get some updated pics this weekend...Im waiting on the seat from Steve (he said he'd get it to be by this weekend) and the brake parts should be in late this week or early next week. So as far as that stuff goes only difference between my last pics and new ones would be the chain and sprockets.

It felt awesome to ride it around...even if it was just my backyard hahha. It sounds KILLER

    Re: My First Dirtbike

    fuck my life

    I replace the spark plugs
Put new pistons, seals, clips, and pins in the caliper along with new pads
    Mount it up

Then I go to put the final thing on the bike....and what do ya know...the Master Cylinder is not letting fluid through it.

The brake line is clean and clear.... and everything else is fine. I took apart and cleaned and reassembled the Master Cylinder and STILL brake fluid wont pass through the main resevoir. Took it to the Honda dealer on 28 in North Reading and the guy looked at it, took it apart, put it back together, said it looked good...and the same thing happend to him. He said the only thing he can think of is stuff is clugging up the little holes that let the fluid pass through it, he said I should try a vacume pump on it, or buy a new master cylinder...FUCK.

Heres the question. Can a front master cylinder from a 1996 or newer XR250R fit onto a 1995 XR250R?

OEM master cylinders are like 200$, and i havnt found any online but I have found some 1996 and newer ones for like 75$

    Re: My First Dirtbike

Front masters as long as you can hook up the brake line and mount them on the bar they will work pretty much from any bike...

We put a 636 master on richies tard and he raced it lol
