A grand for a blown up 8 year old 125 that's mostly stock is insane, IMO. OTOH, the dude isn't going to sell it at that price, if you can get it for 5 or 6 hundred it could be a good deal.

For a grand and the parts to fix it depending what it needs, you could be getting close to 6 fingers CR250

Kurlon, do you have any time on a 2 smoke 125? I absolutely love them, my #1 dirt bike so don't take this the wrong way, but they're a lot different than most anything else out there. They don't make any power below powerband, and slipping the clutch is just part of riding one. They're an absolute blast to ride though. If you ever want to take mine out for a day or weekend the offer still stands, get an idea what you're getting into before buying one. They're sure as hell no 4 stroke.

Exactly how I feel about them! They're just different, especially to someone used to 4 strokes.

Never ridden a 125, did use to play on YZ60s... nearly 20 years ago. : ) I had a ball on the 250 out at MX207, kinda hoping I land something like that. Enough torque that you could lug it.

I agree, especially if you can get him to knock a little off. I loved my 97 (i think... 6 fingers?) cr125 and love my 02 kx125. Then again, neither even resembles stock...

IIRC my friend had a 97 or 98 kx125 and loved that bike. Never even had the suspension revalved. I think that was one of his favorite bikes.

Kurlon...I'd be willing to sell my Cagiva WMX250. Does not look pretty, but runs awesome. If you want to ride it I can bring it up to the next LRRS weekend. If it's not for you, no harm, I'll just bring it home.

    Didn't you JUST buy that?!

Playing Devil's advocate, a bunch of people have advised me away from older bikes from the big 4 because parts are hard to find... what is still available for the Cagiva?

Everything...Husqvarna produces them. You can get them from Halls with a phone call. And yes I JUST bought it lol. I took it for a ride and just realize that I will not really have time to ride it.

Plus it has a spare pair of WP fully adjustable forks, spare WP rear shock, spare gas tank with shrouds, has a brand new top end in it, and a brand new clutch. The only thing it needs is a rear wheel bearing.

    You guys are EVIL...

You want me to come to the track on a race weekend, to test ride a dirt toy, 'no strings attached'... evil evil evil.

...wonder how hard it'd be to adapt my KTM's motard wheels and rear brake to it...

Anyone see a reason not to take csmuttty up on his bike? (Yeah, I'm crowdsourcing an opinion, I'm a geek, it's what I do.)

As long as you can get parts for it, I don't see why not for what you are looking to do with it.

if you're looking for other part sources, or an opinion, give Dan a call at MotoXotica 707-446-4282 ... super nice guy with TONS of experience with the 'weird bikes' might be able to fill in some details on the Cagiva

I hate to be the long voice of opposition (and no offense csmutty), but you can get a bike that's a decade newer if he's asking $700 for it...

Yea but does that bike have: (here goes the list)

    Spare WP Fully Adjustable Forks
    Spare WP Fully Adjustable Shock
    Spare Triples for WP Forks
    Spare Front Brake Pads
    Spare Rear Brake Shoes
    Spare Gas Tank With Shrouds
Spare Up Tite Racing Expansion Chamber

And the bike has a new top end and clutch in it. And it starts first kick, is light, powerful, and sounds sexy. Shit...now I have second thoughts.

Hold it here, this is Kurlon we are talking about why in the world would he ride what everyone else is riding. This bike would be perfect for him to Kulonnize.

I'd love a more modern 250 from one of the big 4 for that price, but so far I haven't found one that isn't a fake sale or disaster. I'd try and scrape more together if I could find a KTM from the last decade so I could have wheel and suspension compatibility (and some plastics, etc) with my 520.
