I just want to thank Jay and Clinton. That was a great first ride, a mix of conditions that was great, and they were super cool being I'd never ridden before... Waiting for me a lot, and even riding my bike back after I snapped a clutch lever. I am sore as hell, and was more tired at the end than I've been on track in at least a year. But awesome ride! I'll put up the few picks I took when I get to a laptop.
I'm not friends with any of you any more
I know bro but I'm still at work
had a blast, guys... Mark, you did great for your first time out! Jay, I dig that trail system!
let's do it again soon :hell yeah:

Yep, great day all around! I'm pretty impressed with marks first ride, some of the trails are pretty difficult. I remember the learning curve all too well, and after watching Mark I'm so glad I'm over it! If my legs still work after tomorrow I'm in for next weekend.
A man of many names...Jay, Gennaro, Gerry, etc.
Glad that's over with. Feet are in bad shape but I think I'll be okay for next weekend. I'm down for my place or traveling.

So where are the good legal places to ride? Don't mind making a long drive, kinda looking to make a good trip out of it this weekend. Not opposed at all to camping, I actually may prefer it.
Looking for a long trail system with all sorts of variety of terrain.
Also, when I register my bike in say NH or VT, I'm not going to get hit with any sales tax crap as I would in Mass, would I?

No sales tax in NH. Reg and pay the out of state reg fee and you are good until middle of next year. Any motorcycle dealer or marina can typically take care of it. Naults off of exit 3 on rt 93 can do it. All you need is VIN, ID and Money.
Good trail system would be Hop Ev riding area in Dunbarton and Weare. Maybe not weekend worthy but good riding nonetheless. Jericho is supposedly good for a weekend but mostly quad based and from what I have heard not a lot of single track. This may have changed though. You could check NEDB and see if anyone there has suggestions.

PSTR is putting on a race October 27 in Mattapoisett, Ma. It should be a good race from complete novice on up. Last year it was my first dirt race. Chances are that I won't make it to this event but it should be a good time to everyone who does.
So what level of dirt skill from 1-10 you think it requires
I haven't ridden a dirt bike since I was 12. I'm planning on riding smuttys this winter.
Sav, if your serious about it, get on the bike this weekend and rip a round for a few hours. It's newbie friendly, but it is a race. There should be two more short courses this fall. They are in Swansea and Freetown. The Swansea one is usually on the more gentle side, but from what I understand they are all being made easier. I could be wrong.
Nothing to it but to do it. You won't regret it.
Can't this weekend brother is coming from Greece to visit
i've been wanting to ride Hopkinton-Everett for a while... same goes for Clough...
