Went to Clough. Rode the whole damned place, then hit Stark again for the grins.
Time to throw some money at the boingers on the two hunny.
Haven't been that beat from riding in quite a while. Not necessarily the riding but combine it with the heat and length of time on the trail and it got me pretty good.
damn, sounds like i missed some great rides this weekend!
Chris, Southwick is rad, huh? tol 'ya![]()
Beta 200RR
It was like riding on the surface of the moon. So big, so wide, so fast, so fucking slippery.. and I had a ball. Had to drop the front tire pressure a little to get some more grip, but other than that it was amazing.
By the end of the day I had clutch problems with the Rekluse; the bike would idle fine but as soon as it was in gear it wouldn't idle real well and would then stall. With the bike in neutral the clutch lever felt fine, with the bike in gear the clutch lever was super spongy with almost no resistance.

as mentioned before, i'd ditch that thing (Rekluse). keep learning without it, you'll be better off.

Sounds like the rekluse needs adjustment. Same thing happened to me at stimulon. It will be slipping soon if you don't adjust it, and that's not good for it. Adjustment methods vary depending which one you have, and whether or not it has an adjustable slave cylinder, but they are all detailed on the rekluse website
Thanks, I'll take a look. I also don't know when the last time the tranny oil was changed, so I need to do that too. I think I've got an EXP 3.0, I'll call Rekluse today and see what they say.
Problem is I'd need to buy a new slave and new clutch parts. It's more than a few hundred bucks once it's all said and done, so honestly I'd rather just stick it out for this year and buy a 125SX or 150SX at the end of the season for MX and keep the 300 for woods.
In the meantime I definitely need a new chain and sprockets. Any recommendations?

understood. 125/150 will be fun, but i wouldn't rule out a 250 MX'er. you'll get more range out of the bigger motor.

If you're running Rekcluse's clutch cover you also need more oil than the KTM manual calls for, FYI.
I jumped on a 300 with a rekluse yesterday. It dragged a little and it was tough to keep the bike running at a stop idling as well. Fortunately not a problem once moving.
And dayum is it easy to ride in on the trail! Just point and twist.
But it just ain't for me.
I am finally running the Midwest Mountain Engineering lever on my bike again. Chip highly recommended this jobby when I first bought my 200. I'd sampled his 300 with it and loved the easy pull on his. Learning to really use a clutch is one of my primary objectives for playing in the woods. Having a sweet, smooth, easy to use clutch makes that kind of "training" a pleasure. My first ride out I lost the adjuster screw on the lever. I took it off until I could repair it. Never managed to get around to that and had been using the stock lever for a long time. I finally reinstalled the MME lever before Stimilon and used it a TON yesterday. What a great upgrade.
MME or similar lever on a hydro clutch on a 2-stroke tuned to chug is where it's at.
Thanks. I'll keep my eyes peeled! The buy & sell page on FB has a lot of traffic, something will come up eventually I think.
I'm running the stock cover but I need to upgrade it, it's already got a couple of deep gouges in it. Thanks for the note.
