Does that mean you're riding at home tomorrow?

A little cold rain did wonders for the sand today. Though the whoops get rutted making them a bit tought than normal. The wall of death berm was unreal perfect.

Wareham yesterday was good, only a handful of riders so I felt like I had the place to myself.

Southwick today was a zoo, not many people there early but it filled up real quick. Had a great day, only one crash! Ended up going home about 1pm as I have a flat rear tire don't know how it happened and it won't hold any air at all.

You pinched a tube. Don't run woods pressures riding MX. Slamming whoops with low pressures equals lots of flats. Ask me how I know. I now use 15lbs of pressure minimum and don't get flats anymore. I also don't chunk knobs as much. I cant tely zero difference in traction from running 12 or whatever the woods guys recommend. It's not like you need to find non-existent grip on slimy rocks or anything.

Hmm really? I run ~10psi front and ~12psi rear, which is what everyone (up until now) at the track has said to run.

Guess I better learn how to change a tube!

    Now you tell me!

Any recommendation for a replacement tube? Or are they all as good as each other for my level.

Fuck me, $33 for a tube! Still, at least the actual tires last for ages...

That tube will last many tires. It's also heavy as fuck. So we are getting less racy all the time. heavy tires inflated too high. How will we even survive a ride!?

I don't know.. but at least I'll have something to blame for getting slower, not faster

Yeah, I do need a rear. Where do you live again? I might just get one from RMATV so that I can ride Southwick this Saturday. I need to order a couple of other bits and pieces too...

Southwick was a blast yesterday, although I was done around noon, so I missed the thunderstorms.

I've always run 12 psi there without problems, as have countless (including some very fast) friends. Respect to Paul's opinion on all things moto, but IMO sand would be the least likely terrain to get a flat in, regardless of how big the whoops get.

Saw quite a few trucks/trailers/campers with bikes in tow heading up to the JDay at Crow Hill MX. Heard it had a seriously hard section. Was hoping to get over there to spectate but it never happened.

Hahaa, Ok, I could be wrong. five flats last year at my sand track is all I got for evidence. Front and rear. As the whoops get sacked out the hits to the rim get harder and harder.

No flats this year at 14psi.

I was literally driving out of the paddock when I saw lightning in the distance. Guess I timed it perfectly!

My rear wheel has a couple of small dents in it. Who fixes dirt bike wheels locally?

Well, I certainly trust your ability to perceive feedback from the bike, so if it feels exactly the same, and decreases likelihood of flats, I guess why not run the higher pressure. I was going with 12 psi in an effort to do anything possible to increase buoyancy in the sand and prevent the front tire from digging/knifing in...but I admit that most bad sensations from the front wheel in sand are almost certainly poor riding technique on my part, not just a few psi difference in air pressure.

As far as dirt bike sensations go, not much feels better than railing a sand turn perfectly, and vice versa...
