This year has really just been a wash for me, I think I've been out twice. Good news is my shoulder surgery rehab is going well, I've been going hard on PT and have working with resistance bands for several weeks now. It's looking a lot like the procedures they did will do the trick. Numbness is virtually gone, the collar bone is still healing from chopping the end of it off but the soreness is getting progressively better. I'm really looking forward to riding pain free and actually being in decent shape again.
I picked up an '04 CRF450R back in January that is in need of some TLC, I intended on having it ready for the beginning of the season but all I've managed is the tear down. Planning on moving it down to my basement so I can have a good space to do the work, I already have most of the parts I need other than a few bearing kits so hopefully I can get it together this winter.
I went to MMI I know what Im doing here chief
Soooooo, I tried motocross for the first time. It was enough fun to make think about giving up woods riding to ride only moto. I have raced on a moto track during some past events, but we only rode half the track every 10 minute or so lap. From that small taste I thought it wasn’t for me. The opportunity came up to try a practice day and Wareham MX and I took it. After a few laps it became addictive.
I'm very slow, but I thought Wareham was the easiest track to ride. I also had the most laps there, so that's unsurprising.
Southwick (in Westfield) is the bomb diggity, but it's obviously a very difficult place to ride. I like NHMX (Lempster, NH) a lot, partially because it's a long track but it's also very wide -- so you have plenty of room to recover from mistakes. I never tried any other tracks, I don't think.

Crow Hill and NHMX would be two to try out next, although most close for winter ... these posts are making me want to add a moto-only bike back in the stable. hmmm

Oh yeah, I've ridden Crow Hill as well. Once I tried to do it in shorts and a t-shirt

I like MX207, but I may be biased 'cause it's right in my back yard. MX101 is fun too.

I do like my Yamahas... but one shouldn't limit themselves to just one color of the rainbow.
Kinda surprised if you like woods that you'd like MX that much. I've done the same - only a couple rides. It's fun enough that I'll be doing more days, but kinda feels like 'going through the motions' after a ton of laps on the same course. Sort of like a short trail loop that's become way too familiar.
Did I read somewhere that Wareham is open during the winter? Anyone know if that's true?
There's a track in Tiverton - MX607. Mostly hard pack sand with some looser sandy sections. I rode there a couple times during the brief window it was 'open'. It has since 'closed' officially, apparently due to issues with the town gov. I'm not familiar with the fine details. However, I have a feeling that there's an inner circle of people still doing ride days as friends of the land owner. Wouldn't be surprised if the next step is them becoming a private club in the spring. I mention it mostly because of how close you are.
Next he's gonna tell us how cool e-bikes are. They're so quiet and low maintenance.
