anyone know the current conditions at clough ? mostly wondering if its icy , if i need studs or not to get thru there
Facebook updates from a friend that rides there frequently on Thursday morning stated that "a lot of ice and rock are coming out we need more snow by the weekend it will be a friction spike killer out there"
Follow up comments indicated that with the warmer weather and associated melting they would most likely not head there this weekend. Keep in mind that these guys ride with friction spikes and probably don't want to destroy them. If you are running just knobs I would assume that you wouldn't damage anything, other than possibly yourself, but the riding may be interesting with the ice and frozen ground thawing with a thin layer of snot on top.
thanks
riding HVD Sat 5/7 if anyone is interested .. .

Should be no dust on Saturday.
I just saw my counter shaft seal is leaking and am picking one up from Cliffs today. If its not a deluge Sat morning and I get the seal replaced tonight I may be up for a ride.

How hard is it to get an MA sticker?
It's as hard as going to the office with proof that you paid sales tax somewhere.

Close your eyes, look deep in your soul, step outside yourself and let your mind go.
And if you didn't pay sales tax, you walk maybe a quarter mile to DOR and pay it there and go back with the receipt. Here's a write-up of my experience.
I should be at HVD this Saturday, hopefully by 9am. Green Subaru Outback wagon, orange KTM on a U-Haul trailer.

cool, maybe i'll try to aim for a littler earlier to show you around some more. ive been sick for 3weeks so easing into it would be smart.

Doesn't really sound worth it for me to get a mass. Sticker.

yeah, hard to say, you'd have to ride it to know if it was worth the sticker and haul to get up there from Hamden.
i'm only like 30min away, love it as my local spot but if you're a B NETRA racer, you'd prob want to stay up top mostly (technical) and that makes the loops shorter. think there is about 20+ mi of trail now if you link the lower and upper together. we do a mixed ~17mi loop.

looking more like 1030 arrival for me.

I'm too busy today. Another time.

no sweat, ducatidr. trails were in great shape despite the rainy week.
Chris (number9), you're doing great, man. keep at it. i think that 300 suits you well. we didnt run into your fender/plateonly rode half the lower loop again later on, stuck to the other side. but we did see another Pumpkin missing a rear fender. hahaa!
so, uh, the Golden 216AA Fatty is f'in magic in the rocks. it felt like i had fork work done. zero cringe hits like i'm used to, just ROLLS e'rythang.

I just googled that tire. Sounds great. How is it in the slick pine areas and roots? As a street rider I'm always looking for more front end traction. I know- i know... steer with the rear! Old habits...

the Fatty works great on roots as well. haven't done any slippery pine needle areas yet, i'll know in the fall. it was pretty greasy in spots on Sat but i didnt experience any negatives at all. i'm a heavy front brake user, didn't have any unexpected slide outs.

Hoping to get an MA sticker this week. Got the sales tax exemption form figured out. Then I just need to figure out how to ride the thing fast! I realized on Saturday that range becomes an issue when my average speed is ~10 mph.
pretty sure i'm riding HVD on Saturday (5/14) again.
