mention of Hop-Ev Sat 9/9 ... i could do this i think but wouldn't get there until ~10:30-11 due to kid soccer (game?).
don't think it's local to anyone discussing but CMP does NH stickers. that's where i'll get my renewal.

They're all (by design) going to challenge any rider, in terms of technical ability and straight up fitness.
I'd say, as far as enduros go, the Berkshire trail riders event (which has had a bunch of different names), the little rhody, and the noble in Maine are the most fun/enjoyable dirtybike rides.
The king Phillip is great too, but there's some sections of foxboro sf that are pretty bony. The Freetown race this year was as good a course as you can put there, but some of those rocky sections are relentless (aka typical Freetown).
The black and blue in Ct is a true New England beatdown, or at least, it always has been for me.
Edit: for novices (c-class) the course is normally shorter. They'll usually skip a pretty gnarly tech section and rejoin, or just have a seperate part of the route sheet to put them right at the finish.
I don't really race scrambles anymore. Bar to bar in the woods has lost some appea for me for various reasons, but mostly squiddery. So I really can't comment too much on any of the courses. Clubs try and include some flow, some gnar, and some fresh stuff, in general, so the same loops aren't getting pounded in year after year.

Short notice anyone interested in meeting up at Hopkington Everett tomorrow? Going to be there solo and probably going to venture onto the single track trails. Looking to switch it up from the easier trails. If you ride the single track here fluently then you won't want to ride with me haha.

We rode the river loop today and the conditions are pretty decent. Bony in spots but we've had enough rainy to give some water hazards to add to the fun

I had the same plan. Somehow spent all night getting shit ready and rolled in to the lot at just shy of 2am and slept in the car.

Is the river loop easier than the bt loop? I rode that today and was pretty easy at first then it royally kicked my ass mid to end of the loop. I wasn't sure I was going to make it out of there! The hill climbs killed me. I was so worn out from the ride plus pushing the bike and picking it up in these tough sections. I also got really dehydrated so that sure didn't help. Was my first single track. Loved the beginning of the loop.

I agree. The River loop is quite a bit easier in the current direction.
BT is for sure a trixter now. Lulls you into thinking it is easier until the end... Then HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHA

I'd say River is just a fart easier. But it depends. River is more rocks with some (seasonal) mud holes at the end. BT is more with the hill climbs and can be a slog in the wet. Both single tracks are challenging rides.
That said I just realized I'm not sure I've ridden BT backwards yet.
due to errors in me using the mobile nesr function...i have managed to delete my post lol
river and BT have both been reversed this year. ive only done the river loop once before a couple years ago. i think its current config is easier. but youre right, it does seem to start "easier" now and then get more difficult as you go. BT does the same. if i can find a way to avoid the stream/rock garden/swamp near the end of BT then id be happy.
im planning on doing the Noble Turkey run next month (10/8) in Hollis ME. people from here should do it too

Some of the seasonal wallers were deep Saturday. I flamed out in one and the water was purty near the bottom of my radiators.
As much as I don't like the deep water stuff the conditions were minty challenging because the of the wetness. I enjoyed it in a twisted kind of way.

Bad news: Someone stole my KTM
Good new: It was Rada and he's gonna fix it up for me.

Ya, I thought I wasn't going to be rushing either. Things really did not go to plan that day.
Had a great time. Saturday's VT loop was a little tamer than I remember, if that helps encourage people to try it out. Though we skipped some of the hero sections that day. I did one part solo and honestly it didn't seem too much harder from the main parts. Sunday had some good gnarly stuff. Almost all of the harder stuff could be shortcutted or skipped. Very jealous of the property owners who have some amazing single track loops.
I was getting pretty annoyed for the first third of Sunday, as it was one long grease-rut. That's my kryptonite. I cannot figure out what I'm doing wrong. Front pushes all over. Tried more throttle, tried staying loose, tried not being loose, standing, sitting, you name it.

Hm. I was doing that with berms, where I'd look at the edge and kept wondering why I was blowing turns. Pretty sure I was doing a fair amount of looking down in the mud, but I think that's only once the front tire started to plow or walk up the side. I'll have to pay more attention to it.
