hah! as much as i love riding there, i have zero desire to 'race' Octoberthe tender fauna + flora usually experience a few high-pitched 'FUUUUUCCKK!'s on my behalf ... speaking of, saw black bear two times ago and a huge buck this last time.
thought i totally burnt up the clutch climbing across the Utility Corridor stuck on wet rock and leaves, had no pop/low end after that hill. turned out to be the stupid Midwest lever. can't get that thing dialed on this bike. pissing me off.

Q. What did Batman say to Robin before they got in the car?
A: “Robin, get in the car.”
Here's the scoop; I bought an '04 CRF450R and an '08 SV650 race bike 2 years ago from a guy who had fallen ill. The bike had sat for 7-8 years, but there was a lot of upside. 1 owner bike, C-Cycle woods suspension already setup at about my weight, low hours, lots of nice woodsy parts (rad gaurds, hand gaurds, bash plate, large fuel tank, trail tech.) I sold the SV a week later and recouped more than my initial investment. I decided to give the bike a proper douching and ordered parts to rebuild/replace the following:
Rebuild carb
Rebuild master cylinders
Rebuild calipers
New brake pads
New rad hoses
Fresh fluids
New throttle cables
New clutch cable
New MT-16's
18" rear wheel from 450X (thanks JC!)
2" bar risers
Finally came to the realization that I don't have the time to do the work, so it's heading up to Jimmy (former CMP mechanic) in Sterling on Monday to get it all knocked out for me. Pretty sure the last time I rode dirt was with JC and Alden at Freetown, so I'm pretty pumped to get back after it. I spent a few hours out in the woods behind the house getting trail cleanup done, it has gotten pretty overgrown. I figure a few more sessions out there with the machete and walk behind string trimmer, then one pass with the chainsaw for the big stuff and I'll have it all opened up to it's former glory.

I went to MMI I know what Im doing here chief
That's way too long to have legal trails down the street, trails in the back yard, and no dirtbike![]()
I've yet to make it over to freetown this year since they opened, but I'm sure I'll be there soon. I went to Wrentham a couple weeks ago. They had the parking lot taped off, but seems like they're just doing that as a crude way to limit the number of people in the park by using whatever's available up near the street.

Very true. I've been pedaling and making "brap" noises but it hasn't been good enough. I need to sort out the OHV reg for the 450 so hopefully I'll have a sticker by the time I get the bike back from Jimmy in a couple of weeks.
Also, you're more than welcome to come and have a rip on my secret stash once I'm up and running. Will update here when both my bike and the trails are ready.

You have to drop your elbow and hold the 'throttle' wide when you do it. Those are the rules.
I know you've mentioned putting on a ride day in the past. Bet there's eager riders now that everything's on hold. Get a couple people to run laps and burn it in. Also, let me know if you want some help clearing.

I have a 1982 KDX 80 I picked up a few years ago for a project. I haven't touched it, probably won't. Shouldn't take much to get it running, if anyone is interested I'd let it go for a bill.

Big day yesterday. Alden came over and we spent 5 hours out in the woods getting everything cleared. I have an hour or so of chainsaw work to clear a few big trees that are down across the trail and it’ll be done. The trails have never looked so good. The Cub Cadet ST100 is now required equipment for trail clearing, absolutely amazing, makes super quick work of heavily overgrown trails.

What, no PDF downloadable trail map and accompanying GPX files?!
That thing is impressive. Trail was looking better than some regularly used hiking trails I've been on. On the way home I was wondering about electric chain saws. Assumed there would be mini ones, but apparently there's a midsize offering now. For a couple years now. I'm behind the times. I'll probably keep an eye out for a sale on that.
Watching trails I've ridden on a GoPro, it's funny how hard it is to really capture the feel. I've watched video from races I've done with vivid memories of a difficult section and it'll almost look smooth.
