Well, 4 weeks after smashing my shoulder apart, I'm doing fairly well. Have most motion back, just need to get those last couple degrees of going straight up above my head. Need to start working on strength a bit, too.
It feels good enough that I thought about riding out behind the house just a little, or taking out the CBR. Spent all day Sat on the boat instead, and figured I'd give it another week and see then.
It's amazing how as you gain the ability to do the most simple things again, how exciting it is. Like being able to wipe my ass with the normal hand again. Or being able to eat with that arm. I'm also into that phase where you forget it's still injured until you go to do something you shouldn't be. Wont take it for granted anymore, but can't stop pushing to do those dangerous things we love either.
Looking ahead to the weekend of beautiful weather and thinking of taking off friday afternoon and trying to ride friday, saturday and sunday. Hopefully tossing a track into the mix on saturday.
Anyone have dirt plans this weekend or want to meet up for a ride? I am in framingham.
For the past year, I've had a lingering shoulder pain/minor range limitation from a crash that I was reluctant to put any real stress on, figuring I should listen to the pain. Was starting to get nervous it was a permanent feature. After a while I started lifting some medium weights and was surprised at the improvement. The movements were sketchy/strained at first, but it was almost like parts of my shoulder were re-learning how to walk. Things improved quickly from there.
I've braced for impact on a incoming sneeze, only to feel ridiculous and realize nothing bad was going to happen because it doesn't hurt any more.
I'm sure I'll be riding sometime somewhere this weekend. I haven't made any plans yet though. Wareham and MX23 will likely both be open, and 508intl announced they're doing MX practice every Saturday for rest of the year. They recently added a trials area too, although I haven't seen it in person yet.

Ok, Focus shift to dirt riding begins today! Racing, done. Bike track days, done, car track day, done. Time to re-organize the trailer for WV. Just a few little dirtbike prep items left to do. New handle bars for Kerry, and a spark plug for my bike. Then, a week of dirt. Woohoo!

This is under AMA this year, but in previous years it'd be a NETRA event, and pretty sure it's the same humans running it. I think an online pre-entry is coming soon, but hasn't been announced yet.

Close your eyes, look deep in your soul, step outside yourself and let your mind go.
Alden.... the flyer says Sunday. Only thing on Saturday is the vintage.
I am tempted, but not sure the other half will agree. And I lived in the house at about 29 Reagan Rd for two years when I was little, small world.
Put an hour on the bike on this past Sunday (about 10 miles), and felt pretty good. Nothing too crazy behind the house, but enough to confirm I still know how to ride (for the most part).
I think I need a new set of bars though. Haven't figured out the best way to measure it, and hard to tell by eye. But it just feels a bit off on the right side, and wouldn't surprise me in the least based on the tumbles its had over the last year.
Ya, I'd typed that out originally. I believe he and his father are helping put the event on (I don't know them, just the name)
Damn, I was hoping I had edited my mistake quick enough. Correct - Sunday sunday sunday. Your other half's concern the shoulder?
You sure it's the bars? I twist my front end up a handful of times a year in crashes or hard bottoms. Also re-torque any mounting bolts up at the triples related to the bar.

That's a tough one. I've been loosely thinking of running beef and braaps that day at the house with MotoGP outdoor watch party in the morning. I also want to get my feet wet on a race this year sooo.....

I'll bring a dirtycycle
I'll be at MX207 Saturday afternoon. Open practice 10-4.
There's a chance that might be the last scramble of the season for New England. Just sayin...
Although there's a few more JDay's on the calendar.
