So most of you are aware of my R6 race bike build thread from a couple of years back. http://www.nestreetriders.com/forum/...-r6-build.html in case you wanted a refresher. I will be going through a similar process with my new CRF 250. Would there be interest in the same style of thread for this?
wait, but its already a racebike![]()
ehe, what are your plans? do some woods mods?

sure...could you put all the pics on the first few pages, for the project from start to finish?
or are you going to add the pics as you make progress?
Ya the chances are its going to be a woods bike. I want to try some MX before I do the suspension over. Right now Im considering buying a shock and forks off ebay so it will be able to do both.
Right now the plan is one giant post. Ill take photos as I go and when its complete Ill make a post. Will probably be sometime near the end of Feb or beginning of March. Im hoping to get a bunch of stuff for my birthday in Feb![]()
I love reading those type of posts. Go for it!
Always good to see a bike build...... DO IT!![]()
What did you order?
Im dropping my suspension tonight....... $700![]()
they sell some nice little mounts to put the hour meter right on the bolt for the tank (near the headtube) for CRFs

Ok KB heres a small taste. This is probably all Ill be doing until the end of February. Im hoping my birthday is good to me this yearIll redo this post in a new thread once I get a significant amount of the parts.
Anyway here is the start.
This is the bike as it came from Cycle Design. Except for a lap around the yard it hasnt been in gear.
The parts I had to have to ride it came today.
Moose skid plate, plate foam (I wont be using), and a tach/hour meter so I can keep it maintained on schedule.
The stock engine guard if you can call it that is pretty cheap so that came off.
The skid plate install was pretty straight forward. The hardest part was getting the first clamp started. It fits very nice and tight which is part of the reason I wont be using the foam.
On the 125 because of the pipe it has a much larger gap at the top of the skid plate for dirt and rocks to get into so the foam is much more useful.
The hour meter is pretty straight forward as well. Its supposed to be at least. For some reason the tach function is working right but it shouldnt be a big deal to figure out. As for mounting the box. Ill be putting it behind the radiator shroud on the upper part of the frame so its protected and still visible. I didnt have the velcro here so its not finalized yet.
did you get a decent deal at Cycle Design? When I was looking for 09yz250s they had one and wanted more than 1k OVER the suggested retail price.

Wirelessly posted (TELECA-/2.0 (BREW 3.1.5; U; EN-US; SAMSUNG; SPH-M810; Teleca/Q05A/INT) MMP/2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.1 Configuration/CLDC-1.1)
Ive always done good there. They made a little money and I walked away with a good deal. This is my second bike from there. My r6 came from there as well.Originally Posted by seth399
Looks like you're going to use it for woods duty? Why not go with the X model then?
