Ive got 2 issues with my gear currently.
My goggles fog. Every single pair. Even ski goggles.
Ive bought some expensive ski goggles and i still cant seem to stop it. On the bike i usually just ride without. If its dusty and i need them i have them on my head but after about 15min over my eyes they start to fog. Ive tried stuff you smear on. Ive tried new lenses. Ive tried new goggles. Sunday was pretty dusty and it took a while to dig the dirt out of my eyes.
Suggestions?
Second, my knee gaurds. (Standard style that cover the knee with a shin gaurd into the boot. 2 staps around the back of the calf/knee.) They slip down as i ride so my knee is out of the cup and exposed. I got a couple of bruises yesterday from an off that wouldve been prevented had they not slid down. What can i do to keep them in place?

Goggles ... i've always had a big issue with fogging ... look for goggles with as much venting around the frame as possible, e.g. Oakley Crowbars have a more open side of frame than say 100%. you could also try 'enduro' lenses that are double paned and sometimes have venting in front like ski goggles BUT pay attention to the fit within your helmet as well, if the goggle is well vented but you're stuffing it in the helmet where no air can circulate you will fog no matter what.
having a helmet that vents well to the front of your face helps A LOT. this season i've been running a TLD SE4 + VonZipper Porkchop goggle and the combo has been amazing for woods riding. way better ventilation to my face and head. i sweat like a PIG. always had drops on the inside of my goggles then fog ... hasn't happened once yet.
Kneeguards ... try a set with a strap above the knee unless that's what you already have. i love my Leatt Dual Axis, about to order another set. you could also try securing your boot a little tighter in the shin/calf to hold them in place. i do adjust my guards at times but it's not drastic. i wear my boots pretty loose. another option would be to smear some grippy silicone to the insides of the guards, just some stripes.
side note: if i'm riding in sandy conditions with vented pants my kneeds get rashed to shit. tried a pair of the 'knee sleeves' both pulled on reg and pulled up and rolled over the knee guard. they sucked. yanked everything down while riding once sweaty. i'm going to move to the full-length pant version of the TLD padded shorts i wear.

I usually remove some of the foam on the top of the goggle. Yes, this let’s I’m a little dust, sometimes the wayward caterpillar, but it generally lets enough air in to keep the fog out. Also: go FASTER!
In general, I don’t have this shin guard issue. I usually have some type of spandexy right on under my riding pants. Aside from the anti-chafe properties, they keep me from having to wear those stupid mx socks which I could never get to stay up.
Other than that, how was the noble tr?

My experience with the MX socks is somewhat different than "stupid". I love 'em. Crotch high, fold 'em down and over the top of the knee guard. Works mint for me.
I suppose spandexy pants would do the deed too. I think the key is to get something between the guards and your skin.
I've run the Dual Axis as well and loved them. Just recently stepped up to a pair of Pod knee braces (not just guards) as I have no interest in ever dealing with knee surgery again, even if mine was trivial. Can't report on these yet as I have 0 dirt miles on them.. only run them under road-race leathers doing sumo. They are okay there, but the boot/brace interface is not as nice as was for the dual-axis. Those slipped right into the top of the MX boot and were a nice cohesive unit.
I use something more like a straight knee pad. No shin gaurd. They stay in place over the knee.Amazon.com: CRAZY AL’S CAK Motorcycle Motocross Racing Knee Guards Pads Braces Protective Gear Black: Automotive
For knee guards, I'm considering buying these: https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00K3SME...ding=UTF8&th=1
Anyone have any experience w/ them? This is about the top of the budget I want to spend. If I can find something that's just as comfortable, offers about as much protection for 50% of the price that'd be even better.
Maybe these? https://smile.amazon.com/dp/B00BXKMU...ing=UTF8&psc=1

I wear normal mx socks (below the knee) and wear a pair of moose impact pants. Maybe those are the issue.
Both straps are below the knee on the shin portion. The top one goes around the top of my calf just below the back of my knee.
Do your goggles fog when you're going at speed or only if you're slow/stopped? Not trying to troll, I'm genuinely asking. I have 100% goggles and they fog if it's warm and I'm stopped or going slow, but once I'm going they're great.

doesnt matter. im not really fast in the woods so i guess i dont know how well they perform at a speed that would be more likely to vent. i have a new pair of 100% and an older pair of Fox. i was wearing the Fox yesterday. the only time i was "at speed" was after fuel at 30 miles but it was raining so they fogged up pretty quick

Another solid vote for the Leatt Dual Axis. I wear full length spandex pants under my guards. Everything stays put as long as my boots are on.
As fer goggles fogging. You breath like a hippo. All that stringy shit growing out of your face probably affects air flow...
As others have said. It's air flow. I have resorted to taking foam out of the top with good luck. I have 100% goggles now. Don't remember the model. They were kinda spendy.. They don't fog for me and I breath and sweat like a heifer too.

im not interested in a brace. i was initially after my knee surgery but after reading about braces possibly causing long bone fractures i hit the gym instead. if i had to choose, id pick knee surgery over bleeding out from a broken leg that hits an artery.
The TR was good. i got a little overconfident around 85 miles and sent it into a tree at good clip. damage is minimal. i finished the route.

My goggles fog up when it rains, but seems like most people deal with that one. When I start huffing and puffing, I try to remember to pull my goggles off as soon as I stop otherwise they sometimes start to fog.
Can you tighten the upper boot straps to hold the pad in place better? Otherwise, I'd consider braces which slide on like a sock. I have some like that, but they don't go in to the boot. They still require some hard landings or a lot of bouncing around to really get out of position so much that they aren't providing coverage.
Far as I know, that's still highly debated. A lot of it seems strongly rooted in barroom chestbeating. Helmets are gonna break your neck, seat belt will strangle you, airbag's gonna get you killed, neck brace is gonna break your collar bone or thoracic etc etc.

Braces are designed break away so that you DONT break a femur so its obviously a real enough concern that manufacturers address it. I still dont like them.
Right so problem solved? The forces required seem relevant too. By the time you're encountering enough force to snap the femur, I'd think that your knee would have been obliterated too. Knee injuries are very common in the sport. Femur breaks, brace or not, do not appear to be very common.
nedirtriders.com
problem allegedly solved. just because things are designed to work a certain way doesnt mean they fuction as designed. the femur doesnt break because of force, it breaks because there is a brace there applying pressure in the middle of the bone. like intertwining a pencil under your middle finger and over your pointer and ring and snapping the pencil. the middle finger is essentially the top of the brace and the other 2 fingers are where the femur is attached at the knee and hip. thats kind of what the ligaments are designed to do. break before your bone does to protect the bone.
femur breaks are more common than you think and usually with a brace, although become less so with newer tech. without a brace the knee is what usually gets injured. breaks without a brace would most likely from a direct impact.
i dont need a brace so why would i want to wear one? thats like using a wheelchair when you can walk.
i also dont like the possibility of a bigger injury from wearing one, no matter how minimum the risk may be.
if people want to wear braces then they can. i did research after my knee surgery and talked with my physical therapist about it. i was more concerned about skiing than the bike. between my PT and my research i opted to make every day leg day at the gym for 6 months instead and build up the muscles that stabilize the knee so i wouldnt need a brace. i slacked a bit last year and really noticed it during the ski season but thats a whole 'nuther subject

To fix goggle fog issues, I though about trying safety glasses one would wear on the street if they had on a 3/4 helmet or skull cap. Knee guards I use alpinestars sx1. Reason I got them was they have a ce rating and there is no gap between the knee and shin. Kinda bulky fitting pants over them and they stay put.

I wear wrap around safety glasses often when it’s warm. Gets more air flow to the face. Don’t work very hard on the bike so not sure if that would help OP.
I've (also) been using 100% goggles for both dirt bikes and snowboarding lately. WAY WAY cheaper than other brands and they don't fog for me. I use the scuba diving trick of spitting inside the lenses and wiping out the saliva once in a while...
Figgered I would report back on my experience with the new Thor body protector shirt deal.
Well it actually called the Sentry XP.
As is well known. I'm a bit big boned.. Lol Alright alright.. I fucking fat.
I'm very happy to report that unlike other units that I tried this is the tits for me. It fits well and stays in place. Does not seem too hot and has a killer back protector built in. I rode in it all week at the motorbike sleepaway camp for grown men. I was able to wear my stupidly large Klim backpack over it with a bit of strap adjustment. The smaller Fly water pack worked swell too. I didn't eat shit in it so I can't report on the effectiveness of the protection but it does seem to check all the boxes.
Ps. one thing that was nice is the super long tail you can tuck into your pants. Although my new found love for suspenders and moto pants makes that less of a deal.
Ride on
