    Gear ratio question

So I don't know too much of the cause and effect of gearing ratios which is why I ask this question.
I ordered a chain and sprocket for the drz not realizing until I have the old stuff off, the new stuff out of the package that I ordered the stock gearing for the drz E not the S model which is the one I have.
    the difference is
the s model has a 15 tooth front sprocket and a 44 tooth rear
    the E has a 14 front 47 rear.

so I have dropped 1 on the front and added 3 to the rear.

so have I basically just created a wheelie machine with more revs in the low range and with less of a top end.

is first gear now shorter and second gear more useable?

    thanks

    Gear ratio question

you've made each gear a little shorter. If 2nd a little too tall then yes, it's more usable.

    Gear ratio question

Should be much betterer in the woods. It will top out at 65 mph or less though.... That's a MASSIVE gearing change.

    Gear ratio question

I'm surprised it fit...the E model has about 10 more links in the chain to accomodate the larger sprocket.

It should nonetheless be a much better woods bike, but you will notice a huge difference in your top speed.

Ya. It's the same as goin SIX teeth bigger in the back. you will lose 25-30mph in top gear.

I bought the kit, front, rear sprocket and chain. I just happened to order the e kit by mistake.
Oh well, who knows I might like it better for trails now.
