I wear those under my kevlar jeans on the street. They are made for mx so they should be perfect for you. I like them because they are the only ones I found with hard plastic.

    Re: Hip protection?

I know this is an off road thread, but I've been thinking about buying these for my race leathers: http://www.revzilla.com/motorcycle/f...ment-hip-armor The A* seem too bulky for the track and my forcefield back protector already covers my coccyx

well, they came...not exactly what I expected but better than nothing

the foam is thin, and it doesn't "bounce back"...when you push into it with your finger, it stays indented for about 5 seconds. I guess I'm just used to the firmer CE armor found in street jackets, pants, and a padded underarmor jersey I have.

    but for $20, who cares!

prob. cause I'm in CA, but I got free shipping

I will likely test it out on Tuesday with the XR100...I also have the pressure fit jacket from bilt (plastic for chest/back/elbows/shoulder & kidney bilt) for $60, so I'm slowly piecing together some full coverage

I've used the football compression shorts, some Dainese shorts, and different version of these Shock Doctor pants with less padding. I'm now wearing, and really like, these TLD Shock Doctor pants.

    https://www.troyleedesigns.com/products/5210-02

I like running full length compression pants under both roadracing leathers and motocross gear. With MX gear it helps with my knee braces. With the leathers it helps stay smooth and free moving. These pants have good padding on the outer sides. On the inside of the thighs it has thinner padding that's more to help with your leg bouncing against the bike.

Bit more pricey but def a nice product .

    Re: Hip protection?

So, I had a highside in the whoops today. Got sideways, launched into the next whoop straight onto my hip. Just below the belt square on the side. I had the pads in my pants, and I hit right on the pad, but it hurts to wear pants right now. I'm looking to upgrade to some padded shorts, but I want real protection, not the crappy mx industry standard. Does anyone know if the Klim padded shorts or something like that have ACTUAL effective (read CE) padding?

Drink plenty of water, take an aspirin a day to keep your blood thin so it doesn't clot. I know you pain hope you heal up quick.

    Re: Hip protection?

I have the Klimt shorts which I picked up for cheap on ADVRider. They seem very good - I have had a river crossing where I didn't make it and it some rocks. All was fine. Not sure if they are CE rated

What are the pads like? Just foam? Foam and plastic? Thick? Likely to move?
