My deposit on the Yamaha T7 is in danger of being dropped. On top of that my local Yammy dealer told me not to expect the T7 next year till possibly the end of the season in September. This could steal my deposit... I hope they announce a release for 2021.

I think I'm with Chipper overall:
Norden 901 > 790 ADV-R >>> T700
The Norden 901 has a retro-esque feel to its look. I am a sucker for a round headlight and I like the roo-rammer style bars on a serious ADV ride.
That said, I do not like the wrap-around rally stack style front-end. I do not like the shrouds around the forks. (990 ADV, Norden 901, T700 all have.) If you're going to have that kind of look, you might as well extend the fairing lower. (BMW GS, V-Strom, etc) I also do not like the barn-door style windscreen. I prefer a sleeker windscreen. (Again, like the BMW GS, 'Strom, etc)
The T700 offends me on most fronts. I do not like the shroud around the fork style fairing, the flat/tall windscreen, and I really do not like the beady-eyed headlight arrangement.
What I really like about the 790 ADV-R look is that it really does look like a big dirt bike. So much so that I have doubts about how good/bad the wind management is. Chipper keeps telling me it is fine. Most other reviews I've read say the same. So it must not be as dirt-bike minimal as it looks. I think that's a great thing; that they've managed to get a that oversized dirt-bike look while still having some degree of touring bike comfort and ergos. Ditto for the roo-rammer bars. Normally I like them and I like the treatment on the Norden. Probably because I'm conditioned to expect them on a big bike. But if KTM made a durable bike that doesn't need them, even more better.
The Nordens appeal is that it has got something of a throwback look to it. Should appeal nicely with buyers younger than I.
In the end I'd take a 790 ADV-R, thanks.
That mantis beak is a pita. Mine is apart at this very second so I can wire up my heated grips/seat pad/cruise module.

I’m not really thrilled with the look of it’s profile either, but I did ride a fuglystrada for a bit, so that should tell you everything you need to know.
Once it goes back together though, I’ll forget about how dumb it looks.

you guys are crazy with the 'butterface' comments on this bike ... front end looks great to me, although i'm a high front fender kinda guy so if that prototype was in my possession, i'd try one out ... agree on the big round light being retro-ish, dig it, could use a brush guard though.

Gotta say, although I really like the lines of the bike, I hate the round headlight; it just looks ridiculous. And I don't like upper crash bars, they're a good way to make a bike unnecessarily top-heavy. I'm guessing those are more just for show on the concept, however.
I guess it doesn't really matter what I think though, as my KTM is still problem free at 40k miles. I'm too in love with it to give it up for anything else out there.

surprising to hear the round headlight is such a turnoff, interesting ... 'ridiculous' ? that's pretty funny, and i'm a huge fan of weird asymmetry, a la early S1000RR for instance.
crash bars adding weight? that's also funny. i finally saw Honda's 250 Rally thing in person the other day. it looked heavier than my truck!![]()
