Thanks for the link. I'll look harder when I get home and have some spare time. One thing about "steet legal" in NH vs. MA, you can register all sorts of stuff in NH that the RMV in MA would laugh at you trying to register. Maybe if the registering in NH generated a title of some sort that could be used in MA for registration purposes it would work but I'm guessing it may be more difficult than that.

yep - That is a neat bike, Clinton. The term "street legal" can mean a lot of things, though. As it sits, that Husky is definitely *not* street legal in MA. The seller is probably just referring to the fact that he has a legal title for the bike. That is easily the biggest hurdle, but not the only one. A good title will get the bike registered, but obtaining an inspection sticker is where things can get tough. Front and rear directionals, high/low beam, w/high beam indication, front and rear brake lights, mirror, DOT tires, and a chain guard are the most common items that are looked for/at, from my experience.

thanks, guys. i was just assuming he went through the full DMV process then removed the street stuff but understand what you're saying about NH. i've been eyeing truly legal 2Ts down in PA/NJ through the winter, figured that WR250 in NH was another.

greg was a big help explaining the process in MA to me a few seasons ago. still on the fence.

I have a lot of experience with this, but I never seem to know enough to say that I know exactly what to expect each time. In *most* cases, it can be done. These days, especially, Government agencies just want your money. Don't lie, but do not offer up any information that is *not required*. One needs to take a step back, and look at the process for what it is. Once you have a title, a CR125 is only 74cc different than a 51cc scooter. 49cc scooters fall under a different set of rules. It is not a "dirt bike", it is not a "trail bike". It is a 125cc "Motorcycle". Think CB125, 250, 350, etc. I have seen many folks trip themselves up simply by having the wrong frame of mind. If you don't have a title, you simply have to look around, and do what agencies tell you to do.
Personally, I got tired of it, and just decided to bite the bullet financially, as both KTM and Husky 4 strokes are street legal and rip, right off the showroom floor.
Now, if my KTM is as reliable as my KDX was, I will be a very happy guy.

I called Wagners today to inquire about the sweet deals on these bikes. Apparently, a bike needs to be ordered from Husky in order to get that pricing level. Wagners has 4 sitting in stock. Since they were ordered pre-deal, he needs to get $5,500ish for them. He will not order any more until his are sold (never?). Who else is out there for Husky dealers?

thanks for the info, slowkermit, makes sense. i was going to give Wagner a ring too.

Wagner and Armands have never really budged on price... at all. i got an earful from Armands about how they buy bikes.

here are some dealers to check with, all had great pricing when i was looking to buy a few years ago:

    - Centra Jersey Cycles (NJ)
    - Schulz Cycle & ATV (PA)
    - Toy Tech (PA)
    - Hall's Cycles (IL, deal with these guys a lot parts/motor work/bike purchase)
    - Tri-County Powersports (CA)
    - MotoXotica (CA)
    - Bill's Motorcycles Plus (OR)

even though some are far from New England, shipping prices weren't really that bad from a few (~$500?)

here's the full dealer list: http://husqvarna-motorcyclesna.com/dealers.php

if i hear which dealers are offering the best discounts i'll post up.

burnham, i'm surprised but glad you nabbed a deal.

    ---------

slowly hearing which dealers have discounts going on. here's one in NJ...

Town & Country KTM Husky in Hamburg, NJ. 973-875-2111, ask for Cynthia. She called as soon as they got the new discounts. I figured it was coming so I asked her to ring me up if/when.

Town and Country in NJ did right by me when I bought my motard if that helps anyone. Smooth deal much cheaper than anyone remotely local.

Cynthia at Town + Country quoted me $4,500 OTD for a CR125/144. Great price for sure, but the math doesn't add up if the rebate is at $2,500.

So what's your plan, to have 15-20 dirtbikes in your garage? Not that there's anything wrong with that

$60 prep fee, which I believe is included in the $4,500.

Re: Husqvarna being sold to KTM?

I wouldn't get too feisty yet.... The Germans orchestrated this whole mismanaged deal. The Austrians didn't over produce and cook the books, they just got paid to take the mess off BMW's hands. SP is doing what BMW didn't have the brass to do, because they were afraid it would hurt BMW sales in Italy. Source says over production is totally BMW sourced engine bikes, mostly 650's. Most likely trying to close out engine contracts with Loncin and Kymco.

People who were inside think BMW is shifting around loss in an unrealistic way, or it looks like they were already thinking of selling in 2010. Yearly profit/loss figures given for different years are not matching what really happened.....

It appears BMW was dumping unwanted Asian sourced engine stocks into Husqvarna instead of Motorrad, at a rate that was not realistic with demand. It looked good on paper, as production was up and supplier contract obligations met.

    Q: Who was your source?

A source in Italy, who'd rather not be named. I spoke to one of the last remaining Husky US employees today, he said his contacts in Italy say, the report of 11-12,000 bikes in warehouse is false.
from a top dealer in the US...

There are no 11000 units in the warehous anywhere. BMW guys were too good of bean counters to have even 11 bikes too many in the wharehouse, maybe 11000 new and old stock 10/11/12/13 bikes at every dealership and distributor worldwide ,im thinking even less than 1/2 that number left after this big discount sale.

I call bullshit. And the Germans are to good of engineers to design and build faulty engines. Oh wait, their singles were junk and the S1000RR was a hot mess. Not to mention all the car issues. Blah blah blah. Husqvarna is dead. Long live Husqvarna.

Re: Husqvarna being sold to KTM?

After reading an interview with the KTM president I think KTM wants to drowned this bastard stepchild before it gets to big.

With KTMs only a 20% up charge from near equivalent Jap bikes the do not WANT any Euro competitors to bild against

At the CNR there were probably 80% KTMs on basically woods play bikes and some newer bikes most were huskys
