    HVD Navigation

Just picked up a new 250X and looking to check out HVD. I never got a chance to ride there before selling the RMZ.

Is it easy to find your way around? Are the trails marked well enough to find all the good stuff?

Word on the street is they open next week.

No, it's neither marked well or easy to get around on specific trails. But, the layout is fairly simple. Below the parking and access road are flowy trails that can be wet. Above the road is get harder, more rocky, and steep. There are a lot of intersections and loops made, but, going alone can be confusing.

    +1 ^

study the map they have online or at the hut, that will show you the basic layout but not all the trails are represented. they've done a lot of work since that map was made. the paved road -to- railroad bed down the middle splits the sides as JC describes. gotta just explore or follow some locals. stay out of the quarry and don't cross the French river.

even though the trails on the right side of the paved road get more difficult, there is still a handful of flowy and fun right above the road. they run parallel.

IF i can make it down opening weekend, happy to show you around.

forgot to add that they don't have signs but they do spray paint different colored dots to signify what type of trail you're on. i can't remember which color is which for easy (blue?) and moderate (orange?) but the 'difficult' trails are marked by white/red together.

Thanks! I've been staring at it in the garage since February.
Pissed the neighbors off a couple of times ripping through the yard, but that's it.
Hope to finally stretch its legs soon.

    Re: HVD Navigation

it's official as of this afternoon...

The HVD Trails will be open on 4/22/17. Just got the word from the Project Manager. Please be careful, and watch out for any spots on the trails that need some attention. If you find any problems let one of the Rangers know or post it up here and I will be sure they know about it !
Dont forget you are required to be registered in MA to use the trails. As always no 4 wheelers or ATV's other than DirtBikes are allowed. Enjoy, have Fun and be Safe !
