I might have to wrap myself with pillows. I had a hard enough time keeping standing when stopped on wet frozen leaves, nevermind actual ice.

you just need the pockets for them.
probably have safe ice by the end of the week, was 0 this morning and forecast not to go above freezing all week
Is it worth setting up an XR100 to do this or should I be buying something different? It seems like I should be getting tires and an extra set of rims so I'm not constantly swapping tires. It's already getting expensive. Why must I have so many expensive hobbies?
so long as the Weather Underground forecast is correct and were only getting a 1-3" Alberta clipper tonite and not the 4-8" the snow monger forecasters are predicting, 8" of insulation on top of a thin layer of ice will be a disaster
if it were me because I'm cheap AF, I'd just stud your current knobbies if they're thick enough....otherwise I just saw a set of F&R XR80 rims sell for $70 + s&h on fleabay (which can double as faux sumo 16" rims w' bt45's)
I can't imagine you'd use it so many times on ice that it's worth another $1,500 in bike + tires...2-3 times tops?
is it not a much more powerful crf??
Looks like I should be looking into ice tires for the TTR.
its got to be cold enough now
Takes time. Water is very stable temperature wise. Takes a lot to freeze a large body of it. Plus, the ground needs to cool off. My basement is still warm. BUT I will be swapping tires starting this weekend!
It's not a good thing to rush. Ground is still not frozen now that it's insulated by snow.
well I'll be damned...

No, just a regular XR. WHy ruin a play bike like that? lol
Well, I successfully changed 1 of 4 ice tires today. I did pinch a tube so that took some extra work/time to replace. I'm getting better at it. My Rabaconda stand and their videos are so key. Since I have relatively little bodyweight, I would never try it without the rabaconda. I'm still a beginner at this, but I could see getting pretty damned quick using this thing. I really didn't even use lube and I stopped struggling and started using technique. By the time I get the 4th one on, I will no longer be a beginner.
Why wouldn't you use lube?! :sailor:
I remain steadfast that I will not mount my own ice tires. For now both bikes are fine, but if I need to replace any of them, I'll pay someone else to do it.
I have, that's pretty much why I bought the rabaconda setup
