it is titled with a license plate. i wont be using it commute to work or around town, jsut a fun toy to hit trails with and to jump from one trail to another by way of asphalt. Dont think i need DOTs for that. i can always get it inspected with the DOTs on it now( was titled in maine and used on the street only)

nedirtbikes recommended Dunlop D606 for the rear
    Pirrelli Scorpian XCMH front

Thats the 2nd feedback on D606's i've heard so far

I have D606's on my DRZ now. Chip recommended them. They have served me well.
I'll be looking for something less aggressive/more street friendly on this DRZ when these are done.
I'll be looking for something more aggressive/more dirt friendly on the KTM now that I have it. Will likely have to use "my guy" to sneak the non DOT tires through inspection.

606r xcmhf is the new street legal dirty standard.
If you don't care whether they're dot or not the door opens much wider. (I don't have dots on my street legal dirty, but I try and only hop from trail to trail, if any pavement at all)

Yup i dont worry if they're DOT. They're just for trail hopping and i got the plate just to allow for greater acces to trails to ride.

So 606r for front and rear?

I'm not big on the 606 front.
The irc volcanduro front is my weapon of choice.
The Pirelli mt16 rear is a great all rounder that wears well in New England. Cats are also hot to trot on the Dunlop at81 as a long wearing woods tire.
The list really goes on and on from here.

When I was shopping for new rubber the Kenda Trackmaster 2 was a suggested option for the rear; it's done ok for me so far.

I'm on the golden tire gt216 fat tire front which is DOT. I haven't given it a race test yet, but it may be the best front tire I've ever used. Vee rubber 300 tackee out back. That's really sticky and makes a great all rounder, better than the mt16 imho. I also had good luck with a vee rubber trials rear, and I think that's DOT, but I'm not 100% on that.

IRC VE33 / VE35 combination has been working pretty well for me. Previously I would run the Bridgestone M59 and Pirelli MT16 combo that everyone raved about but Pirelli apparently stopped making the MT16 in the 19" that I currently need so I switched to the IRC. Not too expensive, give reasonably good traction and wear fairly well also.

I went with the IRC VE33 / VE35 combo reccomended.....

Anyone know a local joint to get them mounted???

Local place wants 40$ a piece mounted and disposal. I'd rather give $$ to a NESR guy

imstuner on NESR does tire mounting but doesnt do dirtbike tire.

ack... how long to change them out? I did tire changing at my old house with a HF tire changer which i think is now at the igloos house. At this point in my life to save 90 min to 2 hours or cursing or irons flying out towards my head, I'll gladly pay 80$...

When it comes to dirtybike tire swappings, it's all technique. So, about an hour wheels off to wheels on once you get it figured out.

Not at my house, at the guy who was with me's house. He is the one who bought you the beer.

a Tusk tire changing stand and Motion Pro irons are the best mods I've purchased in YEARS. take your time and do it yourself, it's all technique that pays off handsomely with practice.

    HMMMMMMMMMmmmm

I DO love everything tusk makes...and I pay roughly $20-$40 per tire depending on how close or far I drive...this could pay for itself in 4 changes (and I will do at least 3 before LAB2V)

so all this does is help you break the bead or hold the rotor/sprocket off the ground as you're using irons?

**after watching 5 videos on youtube...

    edit 2: I didn't use a bead buddy

    edit 3: I didn't use enough lube

edit 4: I don't have enough muscle in my 134lb physique
