With regards to lube: I use windex. It's slippery when it's wet, it evaporates fast so you don't have to wait for the bead to set up.

    What's a bead buddy?

An expensive block of wood that only works with shallow dished spoke wheels.

yup, generous baby powder for the tube and windex for lube here as well. if you can't seat the bead, let the air back out, pry that section of tire back and shoot it with some WD40. air the tube up pretty high and let it sit for a bit. should pop right out.

i use a MP bead buddy, works great. small, cheap and helpful. why not?

breakdirt, if you're having to use insane force, you're biting too much tire, move your spoons closer.

if you were looking at the Tusk stand... it holds the wheel off the ground so you're not wrestling on your knees, potentially in dirt. allows you to work at a comfortable height and use your feet to hold the stand steady. the hoop your spokes sit on is rubber coated and feet have grip tape. top nut spins down to hold the wheel firm. also comes with two size hoops, full-size and a small one for minibike wheels.

a bead buddy just holds the bead in place while you work. not a requirement but def handy.

Blocks of wood work well for holding the bead down too.

Good tire irons go a LONG way, if you're using what look like oversized screwdrivers, you're wasting a ton of effort just trying to make those things work.

If you can get your hands on the Motorace 'made in Italy' units, they are worth their weight in gold. I've got Motion Pro's knock off in my kit as well, it's just not the same.
