That's not accurate.
You CAN title it in Mass. You show up with a bill of sale and last Maine reg. They issue you a Mass reg and title. Done.
no Kurlon WAIT!!!
black is right...the seller needs to drop that price because of the streetability issue in MA....
plus black with pay in cash...and bring the bike away in one shot...motivate the seller!!!
So it looks like ill be the owner of an xr250r tomorrow the bike is from maine, where its registered for street. Looks really immacualte, never seen dirt has about 1400 miles on it..pics seem to show wear on bike aligns with that. Paying 1450 for it, full price for it per his cl ad because... He is bringing it down to me within 25 min of my house so tha is saving me gas, wear, and time for pick up. So im stoked... ! Ill go thru it when i get it check fluids, sprocket, chain get it prepped to ride this year.....
Congrats! I love my XR250R. Just a great, easy to ride, easy to work on bike that is nearly indestructible. I just finished my winter maintenance, cleaned and greased all bearings, new brake fluid, new chain and sprockets, valve check etc. She's ready to go. Let me know if I can offer any assistance/tips as you are going thru her.
Thanks .. Appreciate that.. Ill probably bend your ear on what i should go thru when i get to prep her for the year
so quick question on registering this xr250r for the street. ( it was for the street in Maine, have previous registration plate all the goodies, even a signed letter from Maine RMV stating it was registered onthe street with a reference to the actual code)
I was planning on going to the RMV to get it registered / titles ,,,but.. I am bit short on time with a newborn like only a spare hour a day free for foreseeable future of at least a month.... how long would I have to get it inspected ? or what is the process with timelines after I register it at the RMV?
You have 7 days to get it inspected from date of registration.
You'll only need the previous registration to get it registered.
gracias, fellas...... newborn is severely cramping our/my errand/ honey do list time...... But it is so worth it!!!
pics of the bike or it didn't happen
here ya go.... a couple of saturdays ago

Update... I went to dmv with the maine registration showing it was plated, rmv-1 form and bill of sale ( state farm didnt want to give me ins when I said dirtbike, I then called back and said "motorcycle" and they wrote me a policy evne though both times i gave them " xr250r" as the model. I also brought the print out from maine DMV regs saying they dont title anything under 300cc for a motorcycle.
The RMV lady went to her reg bok, wouldnt even look at my printouts and said no title would be given.I then pulled out my get out of jail free card. I had Maine DMV on official letterhead write out specifically the exact reg and stating that this vehicle referencing the vin, does not require a title for Maine. It was signed and dated by a Maine RMV lady. I handed this to the Mass RMV lady and she went to the "express room"? came back and said she could title it but the title before being sent to me would be reviewed by title review to ensure the bike i was plating was indeed under 300 cc. either way success!! I have a plate.
I also title the Audi i picked up this wknd and they wanted to tax me on on 32g assessment even though it was a used 2009 model that was 32k when bought new. She refreshed the system and it the gave the proper evaluation and i breathed a sigh of relief. Always exciting at the RMV...
Nice bike. Get some proper tires and have a ball
oh man, that was such a roller coaster story...really thought you weren't getting the plate...good thing you had your shit in order!
yeaahhh...okay, I get it now...relatively underpowered and it tapers off 3/4 through its rpm range, but it's still fun!

and you definitely don't need the super hulk kick to start it...bring it to TDC, then 1 regular kick that's not smacking against the peg
are you still in need of tires? i have a Motoz Terrapactor 18" rear tire that i'd sell you cheap. ($25?) has less than a half-season on it.
yup need some tires... i'll pm you in a bit
sounds good. are you ever out by Worcester?
just fyi if you ever want to sell it - these bikes are VERY popular overseas as well...just sold mine last night and it's on its way to Cambodia for use in motorcycle tours
the buyer was real cool - told me he'd take me around Cambodia on dirt bikes if I ever came...he'd even help me with my airfare if I could get 5 people to sign up for the tour :hellyeah:
anyone have recomendations for tires? something for the woods riding here and something that will grip when doing a trukey run or such? to traverse trails by way of asphalt?
Typeone: I' wont be anywhere near worcester with the ne w baby around unfortunately to possibly pick up that tire
