my wife traded him her GSXR7 for it. she rode it twice (?). guy i work with wanted it when i told him she wanted a speed triple. i sold it to him. he moved to FL and now rides it 3-5 times a week with his son.

Life is kind of like that. 112miles of dual sport'n, single trackin' rippin with some homies today. Just like I used to do a LOT of circa 2006-9. So much fun.
Oh, the sammiches, chilli, and brownies were colossal.
And Bergie Sanders is my homeboy.

I love it when a plan comes together.

They are KTM brand, whatever the hell that is.

Those ones look old, but the newer ones are Enduro engineering.

After looking at the EE units. I concur. That's what these are. These have beat down a forest of trees. I put a set of Acerbis something or others on my CR last year. They suck compared to these. They were OK. But these have big honking deflectors. Not as stylish but boy to they keep the hurty things off your patties
I still cringe when I slam a tree after decades of riding without hand guards. I'm still not used to the goodness.

I've never seen anybody mount the flags on the inside like that.
I'm a fan of more coverage. It keeps your hands dryer as well, which is everything this side of not smashing trees.

Pants. Whatever is on clearance.
Gloves. Same. MX gloves are a joke, but seem to do the job.
Pack a pair of latex/rubber gloves to wear underneath to keep the hands dry and warm this time of the year. Also does a nice job pickling the fingertips.
FYI, your first gear is a granny gear if you have the XCW. Straight XC is taller first.

He has a custom gearbox.

I believe his bike is an xcw, but it has xc gears. So no granny gear, the regular 1-6 spread.
Edit: because ktm only made a 200xcw at that time. The smaller displacement was only offered with one gearbox. His is really the hot setup, imo.

You guys use diesel/kero, mineral spirits, gas or the actual purpose intended air filter cleaner for your foam air filters?
I have 3 or 4 filters, they all need to be washed this afternoon.

I just did mine last night with the No toil cleaner. Also was cleaning the Notoil oil. Works mint. So much easier than trying to get the Bel Ray oil out.
In the past I've used everything from Dawn Dish soap to Gas. Gas is fast but rough on the hands and filter. I found that Tide laundry detergent worked about as good as anything.
After last night's experience I'm pretty sold on the No Toil set-up. I hear from a pretty solid source that the cleaner is essentially OxyClean and you can get that about anywhere.

I use purple degreaser, rinse, followed by dawn dish soap and then rinse and dry.

If that's one thing I have a shit-ton of, it's Oxyclean. My brewing buddy keeps bringing tubs over for our brew setup.

Next time tell your brewing buddy to bring his orange 200 over.

no toil + oxy here. works great. I clean right in the kitchen sink.

Re: I'm dumb. Y'all know it. So make me be less dumb. KDX? CRF? KTM?
I have heard of people cleaning No-Toil'd filters in batches in their washing machines when their significant others weren't around. Just a rumor of course.

I almost kept our old washer for gear and filters but sink is quick and easy. the one thing I hate about NoToil is that it drips or gathers if you oil too much or too early. the red formula with alcohol was much better than the Evo green.
no dice on ride tomorrow, working. :(

Re: I'm dumb. Y'all know it. So make me be less dumb. KDX? CRF? KTM?
No dice on riding tomorrow for me. Fixed the bent exhaust and snapped an exhaust spring bolt in the head when putting it back on. One those tiny little 6mm head ones. Really regretting paying express shipping for all the shit I bought to be ready for tomorrow.
Have fun guys. Maybe next week. Gotta pull the engine to fix it. Fuck.

Re: I'm dumb. Y'all know it. So make me be less dumb. KDX? CRF? KTM?
Why on earth would you pull a spring bolt off to fix an expansion chamber?
