Just did the first quick heat cycle up and down my road... Full size bike, feels like a mountain bike with a rocket pack under me. Tomorrow is going to be interesting at MX207.

So, the goal was to get a bike that would inspire confidence in the dirt. I think I got about halfway down the back tabletop... Bike soaks up so much, and when I trust it and let it charge through ruts etc it just goes... 3rd gear is warp drive, STUPID FUN today.

Also - If any bike is going to trigger a whisky throttle incident for me, this is it. Had a couple moments where I could see 2+2 about to equal 48926521 if I didn't adjust my grip NOW.

Hah, yeah she does. When on the pipe it does not take much throttle at all to get a big response, and for some reason on some jump landings I'm at the right RPM for it to be SUPER responsive, body position isn't quite right and the KTM is more than ready to take me for a ragdoll ride. A combination of getting braver while at the same time getting tired I think. And I still haven't tasted WFO yet.

Best one was coming on the pipe in a rut on the uphill 40 footer. I whiskey throttle just for a moment at take off and the bike leaped out in front of me. I'm in a full superman and I over jump it by 10 feet. Land in the flats but didn't get my feet on the pegs. Managed to not crash, but had to pull over til my balls dropped. I was later reprimanded for feet off maneuvers. I was like, uh, I won't do that again, believe me!

MX207 was fun, MX101 this Sunday should be a blast as well. Bunch of NEMMites coming out to play, maybe we can get yelled at by angry parents again?

    Re: Kool-aide flavor fight

So, bunch of NEMM folk, and their kids all decided to invade MX101. The kids are decent riders, we're all used to being on track with them, so when they said they wanted to ride the kid's track, we all went as a group. There were a couple other kids there, and one gentleman at the entrance who I assumed was track staff, I chatted with him for a bit before joining the group on track. We rode politely, when one kid (not from our group) fell one of us stopped, made sure they didn't get run over, picked up the bike and go them going again, etc. Well, next thing I know the guy at the gate was waving me off, very animated. I pulled off and proceeded to get reamed out 'cause my bike was clearly larger than 85cc... (He did NOT like my answer of 292cc when asked what size it was.) Meanwhile, one of our KIDS, 12 years old get chewed out by a mother, along with a couple parents from our group, etc. All I can figure is a mom looked down at the track, saw little Johnny was clearly in 'imminent peril' and flipped out. Guy at the gate wasn't a track employee but a parent and once mom was upset had to play along or risk her wrath on the ride home?

Whatever, we just all went back to mobbing the main track, little kids and all and the actual track staff never gave any hint that they were upset with us.

101 is a fun track. Makes you feel like a hero as the jumps stay in perfect shape all day

didn't realize 101 had a kids track, we'll have to head up !

...and as a parent who brings a 5 and 6 y/o to the 50 track at Crow Hill, i can sympathize a bit with the parents. it sucks when 85-150cc bikes ride the 50 track no matter how polite you are. not that i would or have freaked out on anyone, but the tiny riders should own it without heavier machines in the mix. it's not policed at CH either but i wish it was.

Most mx bikes ship with straight link chains. They’re faster.

Ya, I thought all MX trim bikes were non-oring with clip from the factory. Less drivetrain loss. Lighter, and rotating mass. Cheaper. Weren't you just asking about if manufactures could get weight down but choose not to because of the regulations?

Woods bikes are a little more common with o-ring, many still keep the clip and are fine with it. Put it on the correct direction. I have a rivet in my chain right now because I'm paranoid. I think the last person I saw lose a clip was a couple years ago. Although I did replace a clip on mine once because I got lucky and noticed it was wearing thin from rubbing.

I'm just used to sport bikes, rivet o-ring out of the crate. It'll get an o-ring chain this winter, I like the only maint being an occasional wipe down with WD40.

Why would you use a rivet on a dirt bike? I've never had a problem with a clip on a db.
