    low to mid ftw!

I also have the eric gorr jug ported for low to mid power and I'm glad I have it that way for the woods

I'd like to leave the price for this project at the back of my mind though

Price, who cares about the price, you're enjoying the bike, right?

Re: Kurlon has a dirt project

tell him to throw in an extra set of rings when he mails it back so you have a fresh set ready to go in halfway through the season to keep that top end minty fresh

but enjoy? ha, I wish...as it stands, the electrical gremlins got to me...so, even with a new plug, there is no spark

on the other hand, my bike already came with the 144 kit and fresh top end on it from day 1 along with a hot rods crank. So despite all the money I've dumped into mine, that's the one part that was in good shape when I got it. Even so, I bought an extra top end kit with extra rings, because when I finally take a peep in the motor, I want all the parts ready to swap for a fresh top end, or at least ready to do it halfway through next season

I did get it back. Eric Gorr is a class act in my book. He bored/replated/ported the jug and fixed the powervalve. I sent two heads in with a note saying use whichever one is in better shape, instead he set one up for pump gas, one up for higher compression, and charged me less than he quoted for the whole thing.

Now I just need to find some time to weld the subframe, drill/retap/helicoil some spots on the frame, replace the bearings in the newer swingarm I got, and assemble the whole thing... : )

Dunno why I'd sell it at this point, doubt I could recoup my expenses? Just means I have to ride it instead.

Or is someone looking for a 1992-ish Yamaha WR/YZ chimera?

well...the next buyer would be saving tons of money by having all that work completed already....

otherwise, if any extra parts are expensive, would it be less than swapping the engine into a cleaner 1994 WR250 frame?

Re: Kurlon has a dirt project

Really hard to tell what shape that chassis is compared to mine, and the 94 had a ton of changes so other than the motor there is very little that I can use from my current collection as spares against that bike. Would it be easier to swap my motor into that bike, likely... but I'm not likely to save $400 worth of effort I'd wager.

Re: Kurlon has a dirt project

There hasn't been much progress. The bottom end has been torn apart, cleaned and reassembled, along with a couple epoxy repairs. The top end went out to Eric Gorr and was bored out, ported, power valve cleaned up, etc, along with two heads prepped for pump and race gas, and is sitting in a box with a new piston and gasket set.

The bike itself is completely torn down, I've got to weld one crack on the subframe, change the front wheel bearings, and change the bearings on the better swingarm I got, then it's time to assemble.

Just haven't had time, house/life got in the way, current project is to get my 70 going in time for NEMM if I can, then the WR goes back on the lift.

So, got adventurous with a drill and heli-coils, I has a roller and am starting to bolt it back together.

Anyone got recommendations for cheapie chain and sprocket sets, or should I just order them individually like I'm used to?

Or get a 50. You pretty much always need to shorten up for woods riding...

btw, this bike should be named Phoenix.

I didn't think people bothered with o-ring chains for dirt, I figured the wear rate with all the dirt/sand/etc would be pretty much the same either way?
