hmm, what's 'cheap'? i have a dual headlight plate that i think fits a YZ that i was going to mutate for the SXV. dont think i'm using it anymore though as i like the std race plate better.

i can look up the specs if you're interested but not sure how much you want to spend. think i paid like $70 for it. standard number plate w/custom dual stacked bulbs on the right. pretty sweet.

Re: Kurlon has a dirt project

Not much progress other than some parts scrounging. My one opportunity to get stuff done at the shop yesterday was destroyed by a headache that just wouldn't relent. The swingarm/linkage/shock are still there, untouched.

I did poke at the rear brakes some yesterday. My master cylinder is just about shot, I swear it was stored upside down under a gutter down spout given the amount of rust in the bottom of it. Bore is rough enough that the spring isn't strong enough to return the piston fully on it's own. I have stronger springs from pitbike masters that make it function, but the seals are dead and the circlip retaining groove is so far gone that it disassembles itself over time. I was able to prove out my 'new' caliper I got off eBay however.

I also poked more at the wiring, I've got a ton of bad splices to repair. Is there oil behind the stator cover? The sheathing has given away in a few spots, I'd like to work some heatshrink down to act as a new sheath but without a rear end I don't have easy access to drain the gearbox yet. (It's actually randomly puking though the cases/clutch cover already so maybe it's dry now? I have a full gasket kit, I'll be spending an evening at the shop tearing the motor down and re-assembling with new gaskets and seals.)

Not expecting much progress till mid week, as I'm beyond what I can accomplish with the parts and tools I have in hand at the moment. In the mean time I'm scouring eBay/Thumpertalk for cheap bits and pieces to make my life easier. Anyone know how much it'd cost to ship a frame?

That's an understatement. I believe I had just a WEE bit of tunnel vision going on when I bought it. Most of this stuff I'd normally catch from a mile away. Had too much fun at MX207 the last couple of times, missed out on a couple likely good deals, and dangit I wasn't about to miss out again.

Oh well, I own it now so might as well soldier on, right? Besides, I like projects and I've been having a ball driving my wife nuts with all the little random bits I've found on eBay and elsewhere since picking it up. Just wish I had a more time before Similon so I wasn't in such a rush. I'm going to end up having the shop do the bushings/etc just to get them done, as well as assist with the motor reardown/build up to hurry the process.

Wiring has been redone now, so that's one less item to worry about. I haven't bothered wiring for the headlight but there is power to the switch at least, for when that time comes.

haa...I'm also in the basket case club...I had to replace quite a bit on my bike and I still don't feel like I'm done

how did the tank and plastics turn out?

don't quote me, but afaik, I don't think there's oil behind the stator cover (why would there be?)

also thread needs more pictures pls kthxbye

Now I just have to say "I told you so". You should have bought my YZ125 when I offered it. Every part your replacing on that old bone has already been done on my YZ and you have now spent more than I was asking.

Keep working on that bike and it will be worth it when it rides like new in the next couple years.

Heh, I haven't spent that much yet. : ) You can still say 'told you so' though, on the flip side you can't claim you didn't see this coming. : )

curiosity had me searching ebay and found some headlights as cheap as $32 shipped if nobody bids

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Head-...item4aa2919a66

Yea I'd skip that and go with an Acerbis. Something like the DHH.

Given I've only got 35w to 45w to play with, I'd rather a single bulb setup, and not one that uses freaking indoor low voltage lighting bulbs like the UFO setup I have now.

    I am all over that!

In other news... got a swingarm and rear brake system on the way, all that leaves for major issues is the radiators, and mine don't HAVE to be replaced, they're just beat to shit and missing shroud mounting points.

OK , you got me, I'm split between a 450 4 stroke woods bike and a 250 2 stroke or 4 stroke woods bike. There's a very good chance it will be orange.
My biggest reason for switching bikes is actually body position while standing up.

I'm going to see if I can get LASIK eye surgery today. If they tell me I can have it done, I'll be on my 125 for another year.

I should have enough funds left to go to Crow Hill in a couple weeks either way. I haven't been there since they took the big sand whoops out.

It looks like mass yellow plate is $30 yr for non-resident.

This is how the bike currently sits. The rear end is at the shop. I still need to drop the motor and get it to the shop for a tear down, clean up and reassembly so it'll stop making a mess of my floor.
