This is true , but don't chase no splooge on a dirtbike too hard. My GP bike NEVER splooged, but no matter how I jetted my dirtbikes they splooged. jetting is only optimal at certain throttle openings and load situations. on the GP bike I was WOT full load 80-90 percent of the time. On a dirtbike it is constantly changing, meaning that you might enjoy optimal burn 10 percent of the time or less. In fact, often time dirtbikes run better in rich condition as they have more grunt off the bottom and run a lot cooler. Different animals, and very different jetting goals IMO.

    +1 ^

oil flash point, ride style (typical RPM range, as mentioned), and silencer type will also play into the spooge-chase game

Re: Let's liven up this forum... 2 STROKE!

Stupid question: are there any two stroke street legal bike?

My limited knowledge guesses maybe an old dirt bike that was converted?

But no new two strokes, right?

    Just curious.

Also, is there a rough equation of four stroke cc = two stroke cc?

Like when I was a kid I always heard the Yamaha Blaster, which I believed was a 2 stroke 200, was faster than a Honda 300EX, which was a 4 stroke 300.

Re: Let's liven up this forum... 2 STROKE!

I've always just gone by a 2t will beat or match a 4t double it's size. Not always the case but it's pretty close.

Loads of older 2t legal bikes like an rd, gt or kz. Nothing current though some people are able to make some ktms street legal. Gpmoto fse250 is a legal grey area and some have had success with that.

On a side note I've been ripping my nsr to work lately. I go right by the Palmer track gates and do my best to be hard on the pipe when I do. Always puts smile on my face.

    It depends on the state

“If you leave the bike Reg’d in South Dakota because it stays there all the time and occasionally bring it to MA for maintenance (officer)” then maybe. The issue in MA are also:
1.) proving ownership without a title (but you could have sold it to NHbubba/Stoneman in NH and they sold it back to you with a NH title when they realized they hated dirt bikes.)
2.) all the DOt stuff to pass inspection - you can buy it all, but the costs add up FAST. Might as well buy a 250/350/500 4 stroke

Or, live in Maine. If I decide my 92 is a road bike, I go to the town office and register it as a road bike, done. No title, no inspection, just have an insurance card (all they want is a VIN and displacement) and money for excise tax and fees. Around here, as long as you're not a total tool you can get away without a plate generally, I rode a ton with a plate, headlight and rear red light (no brake switches) and the police never so much as blinked.

Yup - KTM's typically come with COO's that do not state "for off-road use only." For example, my 2020 150 XC-W is registered in MA, and was previously reg'd in NH.
