Re: Let's liven up this forum... 2 STROKE!
4 Stroke Engines versus 2 Stroke Engines
4 stroke good points:-
slower revving - = not very exciting
quieter
lower fuel consumption
clean flexible power
lower emissions
has more torque at lower speeds
2 stroke good points:-
light weight
high power
uncomplicated (only three moving parts)
can be used in any position
compact
4 stroke bad points:-
heavy
complicated (lots of moving parts
lower power (depending on engine size)
large
2 stroke bad points:-
smokey (dirty) - actually a good point:)
higher emissions
not very fuel efficient
narrow power band (not flexible)
What would be an ideal bike
First it must be light (as you've may have to pick it up).
High power to weight ratio.
It sounds like 2 strokes would be ideal to me.
I never liked 4 stroke bikes, and never will.
Thanks for the post:hbang2:

Re: Let's liven up this forum... 2 STROKE!
And riding a 2 stroke leads to more funny crashes! At least in my case...

here's a good clip of my buddy Chris looping his CR250 at Hodges, skip to 1:36 if it doesnt jump...
this was at the end of the day, we were both spent. he landed flat on his back on pointy rocks. bent his iPod in a metal case.

Joel, I was lugging the bike as gingerly as I'm capable of, and I still ended up on my back!

Chris does a fantastic job of pinning the throttle. His timing could be better though!

Yes Mark, You let me ride your 200 - and I bought one shortly thereafter. I let my friend Steve (box monkey) ride my 200, and he bought one. You've started something!

Cool! I have nothing bad to say about my 200 other than it's rider. What one do you like better, 200 or 250?
Anytime you want to run some laps here again, shoot me a PM.

I can't stop thinking about it either.

Re: Let's liven up this forum... 2 STROKE!
The 250 is a better do-it-all bike. It always works well for me. The 200 is very hot/cold for me. I'll have a great ride on it, then a bad ride, etc... I know for sure that with a little setup work the 200 will be the weapon. I have a flywheel weight on the way, as well as the proper springs for my weight. I also need to do a little jetting work, as my bike is very very tame compared to yours (power-wise). I can't wait to get it sorted out!
That being said, I find myself riding the 200 more and the 250 less as time goes on, because the 200 is more fun!

You come "over the pipe". Acceleration tails of extremely quick at around 11.5k rpms. If you enter the corner at 10.5k and open teh throttle, you get a burst of acceleration that tails off quickly. If you are ready and hoked up, you upshift and go. If sliding you pin it til the motor goes flat.
Or you do all that by working the clutch. What you CAN'T do is enter the corner just below the pipe, and open the gas....
