99% of the time in that vid the rear tire was being kept off the ground by a cushion of aerated dirt like a hovercraft...

They make spikes specifically for little to no snow coverage, a course like that can't wear them any faster or worse then studded snow tires on a car

That's what he's on. Except the gun studs as pictured above, not the big fan screws.

So riding a KTM 300 EXC on the ice a couple of weeks ago got me pining for a 2 stroke again. Might be time to sell the 250F. I'm thinking of building a KTM 200 into an MX all arounder.

I recently found out about, and joined, NETRA and didn't realize that there were so many events so close to me. Seems like there is something at least every month throughout the riding season. Since my 640 is a little too heavy for the enduro's and turkey runs (I'd love to try a hare scramble but I'm a little intimidated at this point) I've been thinking thinking about getting a 2 stroke. I've not only never owned a two stroke before, I've never even ridden one!

I have been thinking a lot about the 200XCW, figuring it shouldn't be "too" much bike for me as a first 2t bike and would be good for banging around my tight woods at home. I'm just curious what your reasons for going from a 300EXC to a 200 were?

It's just too much motor and too tall for me. I'm 5'7" 130 lbs.
2 strokes have almost double the power of a 4 stroke of the same displacement.

Plus if I remember correctly, that 200 is LIGHT. Like 125/85 light.

That's what I'm concerned with, I see a lot of 300's for sale, but I don't come across too many 200's. I think I could grow into a 200 pretty nice, but I think much bigger will get me into trouble.

Edit: the more and more I look at and read about these 2 strokes, the more I want one!

    Hi kermit,
By "still around", does that mean your selling a 200? If so, can you pm me with some info? I can't send a pm until I have a few more posts.
    Thanks,
    Matt

huh...heard of many MX bikes converted for woods...how do you go the other way?

leave the suspension, lighter flywheel weight, different cylinder porting, change the sprockets?

He's gotta appear in this. Looking at the results, it'll be somewhere in the 21:00-26:30 mark, as that's when those two cats exchanged places.
After a couple of these, a podium in just about any class is an achievement.

So true. At 30min per moto, these are the shortest scrambles I've done. They're still kicking the shit outta me, because there just isn't anyplace to rest. Good job by your friend Rada!

Some onboard with CVet destroyer Cody Hallet. I've trail ridden with both Cody and Freddy and couldn't keep them in sight, even cruising on long stretches of power line.

Re: Let's liven up this forum... 2 STROKE!

The rest of cvet is full of a hodgepodge of ability levels.
From former A riders like Hallet to the overweight sit-downers.
Being as the winter stuff is a no points, fun race, it leaves the door sorta wide open for blatant sandbagging.
Hallet blew my doors off when he went by. Like I wasn't even there, and even though I know I'm not the fastest cat through the trees, I can hold my own.
