I think there si the chance it will still be split up...people were kind of going off about the idea of big bikes and minis out there together which is a valid point

There is a # limit though, which should help. Splitting it would make it a bit less of a value. I would definitely pay 40 to ride for 2 hours. 20 minutes on, 10 off gives you four sessions that will kick you ass fo sho.

I agree with this, but not sure I am willing to drive 3hrs to do it though.

Thats why we get a group day figured out, we all get rooms at the Marriot for that night, and party it up in CT when the riding is over.

    Re: Mototown is a go...yay

    LOL.

I'm still chuckling over the outrage at $60 for the day on a motorcycle board with a shitload of trackday people and racers.

Trackday at Loudon is say $240 average (give or take depending on org/day/whatever). You get 8 sessions at 20 minutes each = 160 minutes of tracktime. Most people end up doing less. You're paying $1.50/minute.

Typical Race weekend at Loudon is say $210 (3 entries @ 70/each). You get 4 practices and 3 races. Total tracktime around 80 minutes. That's $2.65/minute

So how about the new Mototown Sessions Payment Plan? Shit that's just like paying to go to a skatepark! Going the high weekend route you have $40 for a 2-hour session, $60 for 4-hours or $70 for 6. Hrm. Even if they broke it into 3-groups EX/AM Big Bikes, Novice/Non-Racer Big Bikes, and Minibikes (which is the most I've seen Mototown do it) that's still a bargain.

$40 (2 hour session) with three groups is 40 minutes of tracktime so $1.00/hour
$60 (4 hour session) with three groups is 80 minutes of tracktime so $.75/minute
$70 (6 hour session) with three groups is 120 minutes of tracktime so $0.58/minute

If it's only split into two groups it's even more of a huge deal. ($40 and 60 minutes = $0.66/minute)

I really can't understand what the problem is. If you want to ride for free and 'have fun on your dirtybike' while putting around in the woods or backyard or sandpit then go right ahead. If you want to ride a quality professional MX track expect to pay money for it, especially if it's 20 degrees outside and 4' of snow on the ground. The pricing certainly is fair.

    That's a matter of opinion.

If someone thinks it's fair, pay it. If someone thinks it isn't, don't. The survival of the business will tell us the consensus.

Give me full MX instruction, like you get at a trackday, a crew regulating people cutting you off, riding dangerously near you, stuffing you in corners, giving you constant pointers on and off track, classroom sessions, helping you with bike setup....well it's not sounding comparable at all now... but again, that's a matter of opinion.

Sounds like you are interested in attending a Motocross School. http://www.tonydmxschool.com/ There you go. One day will run you $220. Enjoy.

In my experiences what you described above certainly isn't the norm for trackdays around the country, both as a CR and a Paying Customer. Outside of Loudon Org's every single other trackday I've run with has been show up, pay, ride all day. Some CR's are around for tips if interested and generally keeping a eye on the riders. That's it. So my original post with costs analysis still holds true IMO. I believe I paid $285 to ride Laguna Seca, $250 for Infineon (two examples), no frills, just riding.

If you are interesting in motorcycle Instruction I recommend you attend a Riding School. If close aggressive riding intimidates you I don't recommend you ride motocross practice days.

Like you said. Matter of opinion.

I might try for this weekend. People said they already brought in more loamy dirt so it is less sandy and the track is pretty rad...good news me thinks
